How beat up will a white gold watch get?

How bad will it be? I sort of want to buy a white gold rolex and daily it and let life happen to it. I am repulsed by people who dont wear their watches or handle them with white gloves on instagram(not that they actually own them LOL

Any good pics of rolexes that have met their limits?

It will look like someone can afford a beautiful white gold Rolex and wore it. As it should...

I haven’t had issues with mine. White gold is so nice. My husband is picking up a new WG Rolex later today.

love WG watches, own a few, absolutely no issues at all. sure, i tend to favor my SS ones for outdoors sports and activities where i think they'll be more exposed to getting banged around, but have never felt like i need to baby any precious metal watch.

just wear 'em and enjoy 'em.

I have the white gold meteorite GMT as my daily for 15 months now. Wear it all the time with almost every activity. It has some hairlines but nothing to serious.

I put my name in for the new white gold Daytona with bright black dial and silver sundials. I explicitly said, "I am happy to wait to get exactly what I want"

Gold is a lot easier to get hairlines than stainless. I have a rose gold GMT and it's all scratched up but nothing that can been seen from a distance. Still looks great, i wear it all the time.

I have a WG DD36 and it doesn’t look beat up at all after wearing it frequently for the past few years. I expect a WG sport model would more likely show some wear.

The more important factor, though, is what you do while you wear it and your propensity to knock it around. My SS watches don’t get babied intentionally at all, but they have no where near the wear and tear that many people sometimes picture on here.

I imagine the precious metal bracelet get some stretch, even on modern pieces. Is this true?

If you do a lot of rock climbing and gardening, it will typically get pretty beat up.

Otherwise, gold watches have been worn by folks much longer in history than stainless steel watches. Use common sense.

You should be fine

Dr. Tom (@tkerrmd , haven’t seen him posting recently) used to show his WG Smurf with a bunch of marks and look pretty good ! Group picture from his collection a few years ago:

A number of years ago Dr. Tom posted about having his home burglarized. Unfortunately, many of those pieces may be gone …

I find what ever marks up my gold will also mark up ss in general.

Not much different from SS. Wear and enjoy it! Rolex ages better than any other watch brand in my opinion.

Same as SS. Anything that scratches gold will do the same to SS.
Think about dust (sand) particles or hitting a brick wall.

I feel that WG will scratch the same as the SS. Possibly a little easier, but nothing hair raising

If you are "repulsed" by what other people do with their possessions which isn't hurting anyone, I think you have more to worry about than potential wear and tear

Here is my two cents. The style of bracelet matters more than the metal. An oyster bracelet shows scratches far worse than a President.

Similar to SS, I just noticed dings appear easier as gold is a bit softer.

I would not worry about it, and enjoy
