Tudor Submariner 94110 - Phillip Ridley

Back from an overhaul w/Phillip Ridley… very pleased. We did a standard serviced, cleaned as much of the corrosion off the hands without damaging them. True dome swapped for a NOS T19 as well.

Ty guys. I know many of you have vintage watch collections & have had them serviced many times. This is only my fourth vintage sports Rolex/Tudor. The others weren’t near this nice. My normal watchmaker is good but I assumed these hands/dial are probably very fragile - I wanted the right person. I also wanted to choose someone that could fix the hands should they crack during service.

Phillip noted that it hadn’t been previously serviced & all original except the case was recut or “Polished” as it has been recently rebranded.

Needless to say I am very pleased with Phillip. Thank you JP & Linesiders for your help with the process.

Looks great congrats! Also, could you share why you went from TrueDome to the NOS T19 crystal? Thought the TD gave you a similar aesthetic with a little more peace of mind for crystal integrity.

I may be wrong, I have been told conflicting stories. I reached out to a friend in the know in the D19’s just now and was told the D19 is stronger and modern - I remember being told not to expose it to solvents which I regularly deal with - that concerned me.

Then I heard the T19 is the way to go, it’s Rolex & will last as some of the D19’s have had issues.

IDK. I love having this one all Tudor/Rolex but I am very curious about this crystal debate.

Fitment aside, I'd guess that this applies equally to the Rolex T19, acrylic and solvents do not generally play nice. I have a D39 on a GMT, so far so good, but my thought was that I'd rather put newer acrylic on my watch than 40+ year old acrylic. Having been an avid aquarist in my youth, I can attest that the stuff does not age gracefully.

Ironically, I also have a NOS T19 sitting in a box, but have left it there for the reasons above, but this thread has me thinking maybe I should throw it on my 94010.

I’m not sure I trust the Rolex crystals.

This is correct. Issues with solvents like alcohol apply equally to all acrylic crystals.

This is a NOS Rolex T19 I got from a reliable source. They look just slightly different. The D19 I had Jacek install was nice but the bezel wasn’t fully seated. When I asked Phillip he mentioned a small fitment issue.

Most would rather a Rolex/Tudor part over aftermarket if it’s truly real & NOS I believe. I never had the chance to buy a real T19 before but it wasn’t cheap.

I never had an issue with my D19’s, I’ve had 3 - but since this is a daily wear watch & all original - I felt that the nos genuine part was a better choice.

Better photo, is this what it’s supposed to look like? It doesn’t stay lit, at all. Hands/dial glow the same strength but you can tell hands are stabilized in person.

I have the same watch with the same dial variation - I don't recall the dial glowing under UV. I will check again tonight!
