Battery change on a Cartier quartz watch.

I have a Cartier quartz that needs a new battery and am wondering if I should take it to the Cartier store for the battery or if I can take it to any name brand jewelry store in a mall? The watch has a lot of meaning for me so going to Cartier is a little inconvenient but doable if you think this is best. Thank you.

Save yourself potential problems and go to Cartier

I had a Santos for many years and always had the battery changed at Cartier. Why do it? Because if anything goes wrong you'll be with the folks who are best positioned to correct the problem. Also, it's pretty cheap to change the battery there - certainly more than some place in a mall but if it really has meaning to you and you want to ensure that someone with some level of knowledge touches your watch, save yourself the trouble and go to Cartier. Good luck!

Is there a charge? I have a quartz watch from Tiffany, and Tiffany will change the battery on it for free, as long as I have the watch. I learned that the hard way...I took the watch to a local jeweler, that pried open the back with the wrong tools, and scratched up the caseback. I called Tiffany about it (because the serial number was partially obliterated) and they told me about the free battery change. Duh!
