It depends on how much cash you have to put in as well.

That’s quite a conundrum.

They are all really great references.

What else do you own?

Depends on which option would bring you more enjoyment as a watch enthusiast. It's not just $

I'd personally enjoy (and wear more often) the two GMT's, but those are all gorgeous references.

I wouldn't make that trade but I prefer the professional series Rolex watches over the Classic series.

depends on the deal, if it is an even one (based on the market prices + cash) then I won't.

The two watches you are considering trading are two of the most popular and IMO beautiful watches Rolex make. If you dislike them to the extent that you don't want them, they would be better off going to homes that would appreciate them, which makes your proposed deal look like a no brainer.

For that particular DayDate, yes, as long as you don’t feel you’re getting hosed with the amount of cash on top.

If you’d wear the Platinum Day Date more than the other two, most definitely.

Value wise it is great deal.
Even with 15K on top, it is still below the retail price of the DD. Assuming the two steel pieces are around 45K

As someone with a strong preference for brand new watches, I’d be mostly inclined to do that if offered by an AD that also sells pre-owned. In that case, assuming I liked the DD and wasn’t suffering from bright shiny object syndrome, then it sounds like a great deal.

If it’s a secondary market swap I’d be less inclined, especially if any doubt about the reputation of the DD seller.

It really depends what you seek in a watch and what you want to wear day to day. I don’t wear even watches in the 30-40k day to day, let alone in the 70k range. They only come out on special occasions, while I prefer wearing steel Rolexes as dailies.

So if it were me, I‘d only do that trade if I had something else akin to that GMT or SkyD lying around that I liked to wear as a daily.

Sorry, but that trade seems way to good to be true, value-wise.

Rereading the OP's post/answers, I'm wondering if what's really going on is he's been able to secure the DD from an AD at MSRP (about $70,000, right?) and must then sell the two he has currently, expecting to yield $55-60,000, with $10-15,000 being the difference.

In other words, strictly speaking, no actual "trade" involved. As a straight secondary market deal, I agree with you completely. Even as is, I think he may be overestimating the value of the SkyD and BLRO, based on a quick scan of c24 asking prices.
