Glidelock Patina?
Hey I have a Sub I picked up from the AD about 6 months ago. On the first link that goes beneath the Gildelock (and also half link, which is not pictured) there is a shiny “worn” area (looks like a scrape) that is right where it goes into the notched end of the Glidelock. You can barely see it (need the light at the right angle), but is this normal? The end of the mark lines up with the end of the Glidelock (being fully in).

Yes, it's normal on most clasp. Not just Rolex. All my watches have had what your describing. Omega, Rolex, Breitling etc.

Normal. The only way to avoid it is to avoid using the glidelock which of course would be silly

I did a tutorial on this years back. Use a green felt pad on the inside of the easylink clasp or glide lock clasp. You can buy these green round adhesive pads at Walmart for under vases to protect furniture from being scratched.
I have done this on every Rolex model for a long time and it works.

Just not into putting anything foreign on my Rolex. I don't understand why.

They do it to prevent the track scratching patterns on the bracelet from the clasp some owners would prefer not to have or look at. Seems like these clasps could be designed better not to scratch other areas of the watch.

Nope, never an issue. It’s been tested from multiple dives (fresh and salt) to many many years. Dirt is washed off the low nap felt when washing the watch. My link is pristine where the clasp overlaps after years of use.

As others have said, it's normal wear and tear. I think most bracelets have an area where it rubs on itself and causes some sort of wear mark.
