Pepsi production rumour?

Has the rumour that Rolex is having trouble getting the colour of Pepsi bezels been substantiated at all? The rumour goes that ADs will be receiving fewer Pepsis this year due to this issue. Is it true or fake news?

…erm why would they have issues after so many years in production?

The SS BLRO has been in production since 2018, the WG even longer than that. They are suddenly having production problems with the bezel insert? Sounds absolutely ridiculous to me.

PS: some people have been whining about the inserts since day one. Simple solution is don’t buy one. My SS BLRO received in December 2018 is beautiful, been enjoying it for over four years now.

My opinion, fake news. Rolex has perfected the blue and red coloring on the insert for quite some time. They make 4 or 5 different bezel inserts for the different variations of GMT’s on their catalog which means their production may get shared across all those variations.

If Pagani can create a ceramic red/blue bezel, I have a hard time believing Rolex would struggle in doing so.

Just because they finally got the colors right doesn’t mean there aren’t problems producing at scale and consistently meeting QC standards.

The more GMT variants exist employing black, the more apparent this becomes (and the greater the incentive to divert production capacity. Even more true now that there are additional TT/PM pieces to produce. Just not worth it. Plus, if passing QC is an issue those need to go to WG versions first. Not only is it a much more expensive watch, but BLRO is its only variant. Planned steel watches can always be re-designated BLNR (or with slight mods, VTNR) or even TT with some advanced planning.

I find it hard to believe since they’ve been making them since 2014.

Grey dealers must be getting desperate in order to maintain those inflated blro prices that hardly anyone is paying these days..

Hard to believe after all this time that they’re having any issues. Just doesn’t make sense from a production point of view IMO

I believe the Pagani and similar ones are to pieces glued together.

Not fake news at all.

Yes they've been making the blue/red bezel for several years but they've been getting a lot of cracked bezels back for service replacements so Rolex have decided to investigate and seems stopped shipping them for the time being.

As secretive as Rolex is, it’s hard to believe any manufacturing issues would leak out. Especially hard to believe when many cite their AD as the source.

You say this very definitively, what is your source?

I heard the same from my AD. Fewer Pepsi bezels hitting main dealers. Not told why just the fact. I have one by the way so it wasn't an excuse...

While the “my AD said” isn’t particularly reliable in terms of what will or won’t happen, an AD probably is a good source for information like what does/doesn’t come in for warranty repairs. This odd something that lot would see.

By that same logic, wouldn’t we also hear about it on TRF? After all, every time a member dings their new watch we get a “should I polish?” post.

Have we had many/any reports here on TRF recently of cracked bezels on modern BLROs? I can’t recall so….

Anyone who has worked in any type of manufacturing knows that something that has been produced for years could run into issues. My brother in law is dealing with such a issue right now. No change in suppliers etc, and he’s running into a color match issue. The supplier of the materials and chemicals stating that nothing has changed on their end, but also one has to remember in many cases they are getting supplies from other manufactures. At least they are working with him to try and solve the issues.

Never a truer word spoken .. Pepsi must be at the top or near the top of most sought after model, and prize in any collection ..

Not true, asked my ADs (2 largest in Manhattan) and no difference in number of incoming Pepsis, nor any expectation of it
