Upgraded my 116618LB. My first Submariner Date 41.

I purchased a few years back a grail of mine. The 116618LB. Loved the watch. Loved the maxi case of the Submariner.

When the 41 came, I did not give thought of upgrading the 116618LB as I thought this was more "desirable" as it was discontinued and I thought that the 40mm was perfect for my 6.75inch wrist..

But then I got offered to upgrade to the 126618LB.. I instantly loved the newer size. It actually feels better on the wrist. The bigger bracelet really compliments the look of the Sub. I just think the clasp is a tad too big .

Oh.. and i think the white text on the sunburst bluendial looks better?

Late in the sub41 game but just sharing my thoughts hehe.Name: 20230527_162207.jpg

Being the WIS that i am. I actually weighed it. The newer reference weighed in at 236g vs the 116618LB at 216g.

Same fit for my 6.7 in.

Btw I also noticed that the newer 12 reference came with a half link

First, congrats on an awesome watch! Second, I know exactly what you mean by the weight; it’s one of the things I like about mine.

I had both next to each other and opted for the previous model. I have to admit for me the gold lettering on the dial was the main driving factor , couple with one of the last ever 31 movements. I do prefer the clasp also.

Gold lettering looks more classic though. White looks "fresher"

Oh it’s still lovely don’t get me wrong I’m not putting a downer on your purchase if it came across that way, I took a while to make my mind up between the two, I just ultimately preferred it :)

I actually posted a picture of the 126618lb I tried on at time of purchase here at one point not realising it wasn’t the one I bought

I need to get it out for the summer!
