126613xx/116613xx feature preference: Gold lettering vs Thinner Lugs

Regardless of blue or black variance, and if you were in a market for one...

Which feature or characteristic would you prioritize?

Gold letterings on the 116613 or thinner lugs on the 126613?

(pictures borrowed from @ervelo)

Thinner lugs and wider bracelet are the reason I got the 126613 and skipped the supercase 116613. Gold vs white had no bearing on my decision, both look good to me.

Same situation here.. Didn't find the supercase superattractive :)

On the other hand, I do prefer the white lettering for a more "modern" look and aesthetically pleasing to my eyes....

I like the white lettering. Lugs aren’t a factor.

In one of the pics the dial on the 11 series almost looks matte.

Perfect for me would be 12 series case with slimmer lugs, matte blue dial and white lettering!

I hate the white lettering contrary to some here. I wanted to buy the 116618lb and I wasn’t sure when the new one came out. I had both in hand, side by side and it pretty much was a case of choice for the gold lettering. It looks so much better to me. I think they ruined it.

Let,s say I could trade mine against a mint new model with €0. I wouldn’t need 2 seconds to think it over (for NOT doing it) I really love the gold lettering and FatBoy case. Not to mentioning the new (possible) movement issues.

Used to on the old ones. This is the only 5 digit I kept.

I think I prefer the white lettering on the blue dial. Pops a lot more and is more legible. Thinner lugs any day.

For me, it’s the white lettering that makes the biggest difference (in a good way). So I couldn’t vote in the poll.

I would add that when both are held side by side there’s really not much difference in the watches. Of course the older lugs have that wider look, But I honestly feel that’s so much more exaggerated in photos. I never wanted to buy a 11 sub many many years because of the look of the lugs. When you’re looking down at the watch, and side by side as I had them, there’s really not much difference. As someone has said above, the last of the 31 movements is pretty cool it’s a legendary movement.

That’s why the decision for me purely came down to the dial text.

Also I like the clasp of the 11 better I would probably go as far to say it’s the best glidelock clasp personally.

I don’t like the clasp on the 12 sub (which I do also own) it’s almost the same as the sd43 clasp, and I feel like it’s more suited to the sd43 as it’s pretty chunky.

If I’m wearing a 11 sub or a 12 sea dweller (which the sea dweller 43 already pretty much had the lugs of the 12 sub before it came out) which I do rotate a lot, I don’t notice it.

Neither the lugs nor the lettering color is a factor for me…..whatever came in at the best deal imo.

Some of the pics you posted though are of the 11 series flat blue dial and I much prefer the the sunburst dial.

Also, the black 11 series didn’t actually have gold lettering….have to go back to the 5 digit for that.

Love the golden text but on older model but have to admit I like the slimmer lugs on new model.

Gold text is a winner for me, but the 31 movement is the real clincher.
