ROO Running +30/day?!

My new ROO43 is gaining around 30 seconds per day, less than 2 weeks old. Has anybody had something similar from AP? This is brand new from the boutique, no chance of previous owner damage or it being questionable authenticity. Just seems super bizarre this would have gotten through quality control……looking like I’m going to have to send a weeks old watch into Clearwater

As an aside, these new Offshores are so incredible on the wrist, super happy I decided to pick one up.

Never heard of anything like it, hope it soon gets resolved.
My 2010 ROO runs at -1/second per day.

De-magnetizing tonight, will report back tomorrow!

I actually talked to Clearwater today who suggested I do this as well. I originally thought magnetization would only cause it to run minutes fast, super extreme, but they said they’ve seen it before in cases such as this. Worst case they said they’ll have me send in (obviously for free).

Update- demagnetization did nothing, off to service it goes. Bit of a let down for a less than two week old timepiece :’(

I think they ramped up production too fast on this movement and slipped on QC. Had one that was gaining about 2m a week if a recall which I think is 20sec. Don't hold me to the math at this hour. Lol. As I've mentioned in other threads, this movement has caused me many initial issues, but all has been okay since warranty servicing on both pieces.

I’m not sweating it too much, more of an annoyance to be without my new piece than an actual concern for a real internal issue. Clearwater AP has always been top notch in my experience and they assured me a maximum few week turnaround as they’re prioritizing it. Updating thread accordingly here though in case others have issues with accuracy on the same movement!

Honestly I love this as much as if I had gotten a RO allocation. These new offshores are amazing and can’t believe people just write them off as a ‘stepping stone’ piece. I’m hoping for a silver 15510 next, will be a great duo of sizes and dial colors to start my journey with the brand

I really went back and forth over this one and the 15500 I ended up pulling the trigger on (both were about the same price). The bracelet was what tipped the scales for the 15500 but I am hoping to add this one sometime in the next 2 years! Then would love to round everything out w/ a CODE.

Exactly same for me. I have a RO, but find myself always wanting to wear my ROO. The new 43s are amazing.

Similar here. I tend to wear my Royal Oaks the most but the moment I put my ROO 43 (Smoked Taupe) on my wrist I cannot help falling in love with it all over again.

Must get a White Rubber strap and then it’s even more perfect.

Update- Clearwater has received watch and verified via email it’s completely out of whack as I had mentioned. A full servicing is in process, turnaround quoted at 3 more weeks. Hopefully all is fixed and comes back running tip top. Also went ahead and ordered a red rubber strap to go with it, as all you guys enticed me.

AP is not know for chronograph specs. A Rolex would track the passage of time.

Bit disappointed with the performance given the price point.

Now look I get that you don't buy a mechanical watch for timekeeping (otherwise everyone would just have an iphone) but given that Rolex churns out 1,000,000 per year and timekeeps like a charm, I feel AP should be able to do this better for $40k in smaller quantities...

Alas great to hear it's going to be fixed!

I agree and just got a 38mm silver dial ROC right after my ROO. While the Royal Oak is obviously iconic with the case, dial and bracelet, the Offshores are special too. They’re bold but very wearable. The case and dial are still recognizable as AP. The sapphire crystal and ceramic bezel should always look factory fresh. The rubber straps are super comfortable and now easy to change. Good luck with your next acquisition.

I had the same one with an issue it had to go back for service for - working great since then. Apparently when AP updates their movements they actually will replace with technically upgraded parts (so if an earlier part had an issue and they've updated it, you get the updated piece) vs. Patek for example who won't fix the underlying issue for the life of that movement

I had to deal with Clearwater on a month old Diver. Mine didn't end up needing a service, but they prioritized it etc.
I'd bet they'll get yours fixed ASAP, but even if it goes 3 weeks - that's not bad

I put mine on my timegrapher last night. Assuming I don't need to adjust lift angle (not sure what it truly is), it isn't nearly as bad as the OP's, so I guess I'll have to test it periodically.

Mine was very noticeable, as I let it sit just one day and realized the seconds on my trusty Submariner and this ROO were inverted (1 at 0s, 1 at 30s). Timed it and sure enough, was super bad. Less than 10 would have been *acceptable* for me to not send in, but consistently gaining more than 1s/hour was not.

Yeah I trust Clearwater! They’re all super great, super nice, and turnaround times have been entirely reasonable as of late.

Yeah I agree. New ROC was about +2 and older Aquanaut was 0. So that’s obviously too much on your watch

Update, watch is back.

Time seems to be running right.....However, now one of the subdial markers is completely misaligned and not straight up and down at reset. Have to send back again to Clearwater. My patience is running out a bit at this point. This is COMPLETELY unacceptable on a close to $50,000 timepiece.

It’s already packed up

Funny enough, it’s not the one on the left that everyone has issues with on creeping. It’s the one on the right. After chrono reset it’s simply not straight, it’s edged to the right, like 10-15 mins or so has already elapsed.

Probably a super simple fix but still, this should have been seen before sending out.

I'm sorry this is happening to you. My recent 26240 ROC was running 7+ a day, I went to the boutique today and they said it was within specs, de-magnetized it and now it's a 5+.

I would have been very angry to have a week old watch in need of service, so I fully empathise with you my friend. Hope you find a resolution.
