I can't get past the over-polished case. I'd keep looking, unless you're not that picky about the case and the price is below market value. How much is it?

If you do pursue, make sure you get a UV shot of the dial to try to confirm tritium originality, ask for a movement photo, and get the date code on the bracelet clasp. I'd also ask for natural-light photos, not these white-box studio shots.

As above, Aaron is correct. Also expect a lot of play from that bracelet.

Serif insert is nice, wish mine wasn't so faded.

Very nice Watch in my opinion, clean and sophisticated look with this watch, for the right price I’d definitely looking into buying if you already haven’t

Hi Kettle, welcome!

The OP isn't asking for taps in the back and go aheads.

Forum members are supposed to disclose all possible issues so that the OP can make a conscious purchase.

Price is only one "x" in the equation...

@khalifam

If you're looking for a Tritium lumed watch, ask for UV shots, this one could be "Tritinova" (dial marked " SWISS-T<25" but with Luminova's lume)

If you're looking for a tool watch, then modern lume won't bother you, it's a plus.

It's definitely been polished and by the look at the soft coronet on the clasp, it's not the first time. Lugs are pretty narrow as well. Doesn't have solid end links if that matters to you. The insert looks nice and the sarif font is terrific. You've gotten good feedback - if you like it and it's well priced, that's all that matters. If not, there aren LOTS out there.

There are too many good example to buy in this market to buy an over polished case like this. I'd hard pass. I wouldn't be able to enjoy it.

Small clasp with fliplock (as per early 2000s 16570/16710) service perhaps? esp with non-sel? . Might be a Tri-Nova as F says. All about price.... under £7500 or so, might make a nice daily pounder that you wouldn't be buried-into financially.

The watch is in horrible condition. I have never seen such an over polished watch. The lugs are so thin! A no go for sure

.
Top factor here is price as already pointed out.

Hard to please all here to get a unanimous consensus. Everyone wants that perfect watch.

Inquire about the service history to see if other add ons will have to be considered.

Good Luck.

Thanks all I decided not to go for it. It was priced at £9800.

Good call. To use an expression in the Vintage Car world... that watch is 'more than all of its money' or would leave you 'seriously upside down'.

The "overpolished" lugs are what you're going to get for a watch of this age from places like Bob's Watches, major gray preowned sellers and most sellers from Japan. People on WUS prefer crisp, dinged and scratched lugs but most buyers want a watch free from dings and scratches.

(Btw - not taking a position on the matter--just stating what I've found)

There are plenty of nicer 16700s out there, and not all are over-polished or dinged up. You just need patience.

There are five _ yes, five _ 16700s for sale right now on tropicalwatch. They need to be vetted too, of course, but all seem to have nicer cases than the OPs's example. Took me 10 seconds to find.

I'm not saying there aren't watches out there with better lugs or that they are extremely hard to find. I'm just saying watches with lugs like the one posted are quite common.

Yes, you might find a watch with a great dial but a case like this. If the price is low, then one could use the savings to restore the case and have a great watch.
This one is optimistically priced though.

Bottom lugs have been refinished really poorly. This would be a good beater/daily piece in my opinion, but price would determine that for me.
