Panerai Carbotech Cracked Lug

Hi Guys, new to this forum. Primarily a rolex enthusiast, took the plunge and bought a panerai carbotech submersible 42mm a couple of years ago. Have thoroughly enjoyed wearing it however today I was shocked to see a crack at the bottom of the lug. I generally wear the watch a couple of times a week and can’t recall ever knocking it plus the crack could have gone unoticed due to it’s positioning. I am in a bit of frenzy at the moment and don’t kbow what to do. Could you please help!

Regards

Wez

It happens unfortunately. No repair is possible. Unless it has cracked to the point that the strap can’t attach I’d try to live with it. The other option is a new case.

Wez,
I am sorry to hear this. If you purchased this a couple of years ago then it should still be under warranty. I think the warranty period is 8 years and it follows the watch, so even if you bought second hand the warranty is still in place. Certainly worth reaching out to Panerai service and discussing the situation. And I hope they repair at no expense. I have found their service to be good and I believe they stand behind their watches. Good luck and please keep us posted.

Sorry to hear that. I have now actually read multiple posts about carbotech Panerai cracking- all at the lugs.
From what the others have said they needed to replace the whole car, and most were made to pay for it by Panerai (around £3k). So unless it has damaged the integrity of the lug I'd try and get away with it.

Welcome to the forum.

I’m very sorry to hear but as others have said, it looks like you’ll need a replacement case.

Sorry to hear such news…man…that’s some knock! I do think Pan will be able to replace the whole case..but how much is that case replacement…..give me a spin just thinking of it…
luckily I can’t afford carbotech ones…just stick with the old stainless steel…

If memory serves, and I was told this a long time ago, a new case is about 50% of the cost of the watch; it might be 60% or 40%, can't remember, but I recall thinking ouchy at the time.

take it to the service center now. at least to establish a record at panerai that the lug crack without noticeable damage on the lug and case. even you don't want to fix it now, it could be useful in the future.
