GRAND SEIKO SBGX265- enjoying it!
A lot to like about this watch...
I loved my 36mm Datejusts, and my other Rolex watches. I never had the "right" DJ, always wanted a blue or black, and parted with them all. I always felt I could always get another, and hunting and buying was part of the fun for me. Also must admit I am fickle and for whatever reason, parted with many a fine watch. Then something happened, the price of a Rolex just jumped through the roof. I've also had several Grand Seikos, same story, always something that led me to part with them. I am a senior, and like watches on the smaller, slim side. I enjoyed another in this series, a 37mm Quartz GS and wore it exclusively for a year or two. So I am familiar with the watch. Really enjoying this blue one, it is pretty much what I always wanted. We all know about the workmanship and quality that Grand Seiko entails. In short, it is a great watch. What makes it so appealing to me, aside from the super quality and attention to detail, is the size, and the the 10mm thickness... slim and trim. Also love the accuracy of the HAQ High Accuracy Quartz. Also love the price... well not exactly, but $2k is way less than a Datejust, and with the high prices and inflation today, it's kind of a good deal, a good value. But... I wish it was automatic. But I know it would not be as slim. And the battery will die at some point and need replacing, and with some of my physical issues, this may be a problem. I also don't like the 19mm lug width, especially for my wide wrist. It makes straps kind of difficult to find. While the bracelet is very high quality, I like the light weight of a strap. But it looks great and wears very comfortably. I have been experimenting with a few different straps. Last edited by Tbonewalk; 5 July 2023 at 01:38 AM.. Reason: adding picture... |

Very nice blue. As for the 19mm, with the good price, treat the watch to a bespoke strap.

thank you!
"bespoke" kind of threw me lol I guess it means special, like custom tailored to the watch... they're not easy to find and not sure I want to lay out big bucks when unsure of the outcome... but working on it and the watch is still looking good anyway with what I have right now...

bracelet?
thank you! Bracelet is gone, I wanted the whole thing lighter. I'll keep plugging with straps, but sizable lengths at 19mm is a challenge. Also the blue face is a tricky matchup for me. Love it though on many levels.

Lovely looking watch. Plenty of sellers on Etsy doing nice 19mm straps.
