You never actually own....

a Seiko Bullhead, You merely take care of it for the next generation.

About a month ago I gave my son my old Seiko Bullhead. I'm the original owner and have had the watch since 1978. The watch works like a charm and was last serviced circa 1987. It's a rock solid chronograph, and as I don't wear the watch anymore, and my son is a very responsible 15 yo WIS, well it's now his. Wouldn't it be great if the watch gets passed onto his son?

Here's a stock photo, I have a photo of the real thing at home:

Great story, Langnam.

I tried to offer my son one of mine. The only two he wanted were a fake TT DJ with blue dial and "diamond" markers and a Casio multifunction.

I trained him to only drink good beer and the best single malts. Where did I go wrong with watches?

Yes, I wish I'd kept some of my old Seiko mechanical watches. Like an idiot I gave them all away to relatives and friends.

Father-to-son watches got my family going on watch collecting. My father bought a dozen watches at an estate sale. They turned out to be excellent brands, worth more than he paid. He gave each of us kids one of them. The watches were all men's, so I got a 14k Hamilton with diamond markers that could have passed on a woman's wrist, but I never felt comfortable with it. Gradually, the men in my family became infected with Rolexitis, and now my father has passed that on to me (my mother and sister seem to be immune). The Rolex I bought last week will always be a happy reminder of the spirit of playfulness that I love in my father's character.

Beautiful story and nice sentiments, Langnam. I think I now seriously need to hold on to my Sub so I can probably pass it on to my grandson!!

Thanks, all.

I thought now would be a good time to hand off the watch, as my son was basically the same age as I when I received the watch. I gave my father some of my savings to buy me that watch when he went to Japan on business. I'm sure I didn't have the correct amount, so it's nice to think he passed it on to me first.
