Certified pre owned Rolex dealer prices

Just visited 2 stores that have certified pre owned Rolexes. In Wailea and Lahaina Whalers village shops. Both owned by Bucherer that bought out Torneau.
So watches I asked about 116520 black dial new clasp was $26k 2008 Kermit sun was 17 or 18k. Full Rose gold Daytona was $60

Perhaps their target customers are the west Maui croppers or the street corner pharmacists in Paia…

These are the same people offering to buy your watch for 20% below retail and saying that the market has been cooling off.

It is just another way for the AD to screw you. First they want to bundle you, now sell you a pre-owned piece at a crazy price. I know people have money, but really.

If nobody pays such a big premium, the prices will be reduced as the watches age in the case. The program is new so you expect the ADs to shoot for the moon when they’ve been rewatching gray dealers post super high prices for years.

Plus, you can always make an offer at a price that you believe is reasonable. All they can say is no or counter.

Many people may not realize the mark-up on used watches. It seems the more they charge, the less they paid for the watch. The new AD mark-up is about 37 percent. It is about in the same range on the used market.

Definitely no bargains there. It's the price you pay for knowing you are buying a legit, serviced piece.

I suspect that many outside of the active collector community will be willing to pay it, too...

It's the price you pay to assure a legit watch that is up to date on service.

The target market is generally not those of us on TRF - more about the one-off, non-collector. And I bet there will be plenty of buyer out there for them...

Is it definitive that the watch is serviced?

I’ve read that they are serviced by RSC, before listed for sale. What I’m having trouble grasping, is how an AD can offer a used Rolex for a much higher price than a brand new one. I know that grey market dealers do just that, but an AD should not, IMO. It is a poorly thought out business model, that makes no sense, except to point out that Rolex is now a grey market dealer, too.

17k for a 2008 Kermit seems reasonable if in good condition

They aren't screwing anyone who doesn't agree to get scrod.

It's not terrible. They are 14-15K on the open market, then add a service and peace of mind (since the LV is tricky reference without papers...)

That’s about right based on what I’ve been offered for a couple of my watches through secondary sellers here.

When on vacation clueless buyers about Rolex prices, they do not
really care, if they like the watch they see, especially from a fancy
European/Swiss jeweler like Bucherer, they pull their Amex and it goes
to the company expenses, means nothing.

I expect people will haggle, but if ADs can actually sell watches for these asking prices, good luck to them.

I overpaid for a Rolex from one of these stores a couple years back. Probably by about $1000-$2000 at the time depending on who you were buying grey from. My decision making was I was there on vacation. The piece was mint condition, peace of mind that it was real, and the wife was on board in the moment. Done deal. Plus got a new service after I got home free of charge to get running +1 sec day.

That’s not bad. These prices are way more than that.
