I got an invite to check it out at my AD. Didn’t have the time, but perhaps tomorrow!

haha, there's nothing to congratulate. It was not for sale and only for customers to look and admire. I only managed to fiddle it before it is gone.

This is just fabulous - Thank you for posting the pics. I agree this is more "retro" than I had thought it would be. Alas, I'd be more than happy if this was the last watch my AD ever sold to me!!

I think the biggest issue here isn't going to be pure production numbers - Rolex will produce plenty, just like they do with every watch they make. The issue is going to be that many ADs walk this out the back door or have an arranged secondary market sale. I see very few of these getting into the hands of actual collectors, and that's going to make it all the more exclusive and elusive.

In the US I don't think an AD would ever present a watch like this to a client, in saran wrap or however they showed it to you.

First one I’ve seen in the wild.

Waiting for the call (that may, or may not ever happen………) here.

I’ve never seen watches at AD fully wrapped in plastic like that. Odd

I can see the appeal but it's not for me personally. Still a fan of the black/white 116500.

Yeah, very unusual and more like something a grey market deal would do.

Absolutely amazing!! I suspect that I will never get the opportunity to see one of these pieces in the flesh. Love the new size and the fine metal edge to the bezel. It's going to be worth a small fortune when they hit the secondary market!

This is normal practice in the Asia region especially since it’s used as a demo model. You know there’s a world outside the US, right?

Look at OP’s location (Singapore). It’s at the Kee Hing Hung AD.

Who will the secondary market sell them to, if not to actual collectors?

I'm not taking the bait on who is a collector versus who is not, and I'm not going to argue the pros and cons of the secondary market as we all have our own opinions. Sorry if my choice of words is confusing, but my point is I feel few of these will land in the hands of collectors at MSRP. The financial reward is going to be far too great to pass up and many ADs will get these placed out on the secondary market. At that point, as you suggest, it's every crypto-bro, collector, Instagrammer, watch aficionado...whoever/whatever...for themselves!

The $175 to $200k range seems to be frequently discussed as the market value of this one. I think that's way too low. If you are a Daytona fan, THIS is it. Add all the Rolex lore and hype and there's no reason this isn't $350k+ just like you see for some of the crazy APs and Patek models that are exclusive.
