Tantalum Royal Oaks
Been interested in getting a full tantalum watch and ran into this. The 15000TR which perhaps is one of the very few automatic royal oak with tantalum case and bracelet. Anyone has experience with this model? Last I checked it's sold in Philips for more than $50k USD.

I kind of get the two tone watch, but having a super strong material, only to be mashed with a material that is soft, kind of defeats the purpose of the 2nd material needing to be strong.

I really like the material, having owned a CB from FJP. It reminds a bit of the darker hue titanium offers, albeit darker.
A relative had a 56175TT, great but too small for us gents unfortunately. Let us know if you find a good specimen. |

Fantastic color combo with that dial, but 33mm is just too small for my taste.

Looks nice but I agree. The bezel being soft rose gold is an anathema to tantalum. But the combo still looks good |

I hope to see one in person but even finding one available in the internet is difficult, let alone able to see one. There's 0 in Chrono24 for example.
Some auction site said this is 34mm and some said 33mm. Seeing more 34mm royal oaks are released recently and the trend of small watches are more acceptable now, I think this is more like a dress watch than a 15510/15500 type of watch. |

Wow, I love the color combination, it's gorgeous timepiece. Salmon dial timepieces always command higher price but $50k it seems to be overprice.

Have seen RG/Tantalum models hit websites like EWC and the Keystone before. Keep an eye out there.

I own a similar watch bought brand new early 2000s as an NOS. mine went back to AP services center 3 or 4 times during my ownership. Last it went in just before Covid era.. AP service centre replaced the entire movement ie update with a new crown (with AP logo).. not that my original movement has any problem but even after servicing it runs slow (it’s my safe Queen hardly use it, even if I use it, it’s only for a day or two n it will be sitting there for months of not years).. after the upgrade to new movement.. it’s super accurate and works great! Btw the date font looks nicer too!
These watches are hard to come by especially in top notch original condition. A real keeper.. 33mm case but wears like a 36mm .. it’s perfect since lately wristwatches are trending towards smaller size anyway.. Weight in at slightly more than 200g with full bracelet. Just this year my friend offer me $80K! (Full set full links with tags and purchase receipt etc). Suggest you don’t sell yours. It’s more rare than any jumbo. BTW Just in case you are wondering.. these salmon dials are not unisex but these are proper men’s watches for the Japanese market back then.. Service centre told me they have never seen a similar configuration before n mine was the first and when a service centre tells you it’s is a rare one.. that’s a keeper IMHO. |
