AR is the way!

Got my BLNR from RSC Beverly Hills yesterday after 2 weeks. $247 out the door for the straight swap of my original glass without AR

The watch just has a new dimension. Now with the dial looking more recessed

Yeah, I really like the inner AR, it's a definite improvement in my eyes. Noticed it right away with my 126610

AR does seem to be the trend. Thinking of getting it for my 14060M

What year did they add the AR to the GMT?

The Submariner family got the inside AR coating when the new 41's were released. I remember it being advertised.

However; does anyone know, or have proof, if the current GMT's are now being produced with inside AR? I know that my 2020 BLNR does not have it and I've never read that it has been officially added on the Rolex website. Thanks in advance.

Secretly introduced in late 2022 approximately. In GMTs Datejusts. Correct only the Sub41 was advertised. My dad’s DD40s has it as well. Daytonas definitely since the ceramic models came out.

Will the RSC replace with AR on all models like the previous 114060 40mm Subs?

Don’t think so since it never exhorted for that generation. That’s what the lady at RSC said. There is a member here that says he got AR glass for his 5 digit GMT but I think it may have been AR on the date only. I asked him to check his LEC to see if has the double rings at the bottom of the LEC crown, but haven’t seen his response yet.

Interestingly, I bought a 114270 from Watchbox that had an official Rolex AR crystal, but I was never totally sure how that happened. I believe Watchbox has a parts account in their service center, so maybe they inadvertently did it.

I ordered a jeweler's loupe so I can do that. I know it is much less reflective than my 14060m. And I'm not sure why the RSC would say that, the OP I believe is about installing an AR on a model that didn't come with it.

My 2020 126710blnr didn’t have the AR in the whole dial just the date before. RSC changed the dial to the updated while dial AR like in the new submariner 41 that came out in 2020. Current 126710blnr DO have the updated glass since abut 2022. Since it exists on this generation of GMTs rolex service center can update my glass. They said they don’t have AR glass for prior generations or references that never had it offered in the model range

You can install 116500 on the 114060 if you want AR.

It's a huge improvement over the non-AR crystals. Glad Rolex finally got with program!

I have watches with AR on both sides, AR on one side, and no AR at all, and this may sounds odd but I how much I like the AR coating depends on the watch. On Breitlings (AR on both sides) I love the way the crystal totally disappears to the point it looks like you can touch the hands, but with Rolexes with ceramic bezels I actually prefer no AR as I think the added reflection better matches the reflection of the ceramic somehow. I've never really found legibility an issue with no AR, and aesthetically it just works for me. YMMV of course!

It’s subtle but the black is more vibrant vs having a mild hue of grey without the AR. It is a very minor difference other than the also subtle less glare. Not totally obvious at first but noticeable once you’re aware of the change.

Less glare/reflection from the light = better visibility/more legible dial
