I like the fact that my ROO looks like a smart Watch

From a casual glance it looks like an Apple Watch or Samsung Galaxy watch.

I just felt my Rolex watches are always too loud now.

Moving into AP seems like a good move for me.

Ha! Same here. I’m an exec at a tech company that’s one where wearing a Rolex would probably be frowned upon since part of what we do is focused on helping those who are underprivileged. Nobody would say anything outright but I think there could be some silent judgement.

I wear a black ceramic 34 RO instead - nobody notices it. It feels much more under the radar than my datejust 36 or explorer were

I was on vacation recently and met some of my father-in-law’s friends. Lots of chatter about cars and watches, submariner, GMT, etc. Then speaking in disbelief about how they knew someone who got an AP! Meanwhile I’m there in short sleeves and my 43 taupe ROO and no one noticed - how that’s possible I’ll never understand, but it happened!

The legend of AP, ever elusive and subtle.

Super odd hearing people thinking AP is a subtle watch! I always thought Rolex was the minimal / boring choice but I guess I was wrong.

It depends on the model. The Sub, GMT, Daytona, Day Date, DJ are all iconic watches and most regular people would know that it’s: a) a Rolex, b) expensive

When it comes to the Royal Oak Offshore, the only people who will know what it is are watch enthusiasts, flippers, and thieves. But mainstream people have not heard of AP or the offshore (probably not even the Royal oak)

When it comes to being subtle, an RO is obviously not that subtle. A Rolex with PCL is not either like the Pepsi, but a sub is pretty subtle & iconic, which is why it’s one of the best watches ever made (and relatively affordable).

Anyways, I quit my job last year and travelled the world for the past year wearing primarily my 15720ST. I felt like it was the perfect watch for such a journey: I could wear it with biz casual clothes when going out, but also with joggers & tshirt. It was a good companion in Zurich and Singapore, but also safe enough to wear in Bali or Paris
