Have you given it a full wind (40 complete turns of the crown)?

Depends on the amount of power had in the mainspring to start with, wearing a watch don't wind the watch it's wrist activity that winds the watch.Try giving your watch a full manual wind that's 40 full crown turns clockwise only.

If it runs fine while you are wearing it, then the auto wind is still doing its job. However, over time the auto wind does wear and lose lubrication, so may not function as good as it could.

Also, the watch will only have as much power in it as you put into it each day. If you are an avid book reader or spend a lot of time at the keyboard, you are not winding your watch, so the actual amount of power in it may be only a few hours.

If you are ill, or somewhat sedentary, you may need to wind it up every week or two. Or, it may just be lacking lubrication at key friction areas and needs a Clean, Oil, and Adjustment Service.

It will actually stop while on my wrist then take it off and wind it again?

If you are sedentary, yes, an automatic watch will stop on your wrist. It will also stop on a winder if the winder is set for too few rotations.

You need 650 turns of the rotor a day just to keep it at a static state of wind. Anything less and the watch will run down to only what you are putting into it. For a large number of folks that is only a few hours.

Your watch is a few years old, so it could need to be serviced. The rotor axle can wear, and the reverser wheels in the auto wind can seize. Either of these can compromise the efficiency of the auto wind module.

If you wind it up as others have suggested, and it still halts while wearing, then you have a bigger problem in the running gears.

I foresee a watchmaker visit in your future.

Part of the mechanical watch ownership. These things need maintenance.

This, and it is eight years old, so relatively close to the normal service time anyway.

I'd be happy if mine reaches an 8 year service interval
