Help with Panerai Authentication
Hi everyone,
I found a local seller for a naked Panerai. Not sure of the model, but here are some photos of I acquired. I was wondering if the Paneristi here could enlighten me on if there are obvious signs this is a replica and if there are please share what they are so I can be educated. Also can anyone tell which model this is? The seller is willing to meet at my watchmaker to authenticate, but I thought I would check here first before I dedicate the time and effort to meet up. Thanks in advanced! |

I’m not sure. First stop is Panerai Pamguard. Google it and use the numbers on the case to confirm if it exists. The next stop is a Panerai store. Personally I’d be a little suspicious. I believe the model is 111

It's FAKE.
Serial doesn't come up on Panerai site. The movement looks wrong. Caseback is wrong. PASS 1000% |

Yes I agree that the caseback and movement looks off from most of the reference photos I have seen. I just wasn't sure if they might be an earlier model version.

It only says "Swiss" and not "Swiss made"

That's weird, when I ran it it didn't come up.
But regardless, it doesn't look right to me. |

It's fake. The horizontal line on the "A's" are too low, and the movement doesn't look right. The screws are all wrong on the movement, they should be flat not as rounded.

Fake. We all are seeing different things, but all leading to a similar conclusion. What stuck out the most to me is how in the picture second from the bottom, the pin that holds the crown guard arm in place sticks up above the crown guard. It should be flush with no dimple. Also, there's a huge gap between the hands in the center where they should be right on top of each other. You can really see it in the first picture.

Thanks to everyone for the quick replies and advice. Yes, I passed on the Panerai without meeting the seller. It has been an educational exercise though and I hope to learn more from the community. Have a great weekend!

It is a very bad replica. As everyone here have authenticated for you here, there is no need to go to your local watchmaker now.
I would say out of all of the telltale signs, which there are a lot, is the lume of the dial, versus the lume of the hands (hour/minute/second). They are two different colors. |
