Anyone getting any luck with SkyDwellers?
Bought a 41 mm DJ from my AD in July. Waited about 8 weeks and while waiting tried on a friends Sky and fell in love. Inquired about a stainless steel sky d on jubilee - no preference on dial (prefer white) when I picked up the Sky.
She told me it would most likely be a while for this piece but of course didn’t give me a time frame. Wondering what realistic wait times are right now? Considering going grey and paying the 3k premium if it’s going to be an insane amount of time as this is my grail watch. Looking to purchase a 2022 at a good price. Was wondering if there are major differences between the 2022 and 2023 updated movement. Wondering what you guys have waited or have been waiting and if I should just go grey. I did get a call for a two tone sky but politely declined as I want the stainless steel. My only spend history with the Ad is the DJ Thanks |

Unfortunately there's no way of knowing. I couldn't get on my AD's list for the black SS in 2019 so I went grey, just avoiding a market price rise. Same AD got me a blue SS in six months in 2022. It's impossible to come up with a reliable formula that would work for everyone.
My SS blue and black Sky Dwellers have been tracking a bit bumpy but fairly flat overall on the used market this year, after falling from their ridiculous peak levels. In your shoes I would wait for a shiny new AD supplied watch at MSRP but if a price increase is announced I would get in before it and buy grey. I could live with a £3k premium on a SS model if I really wanted it and genuinely believed my AD would not produce one for me any time soon, if ever. We will each draw that line in a different place. |

I think the steel skyD is tricky to get. However grey prices are certainly pretty low compared to where they once were. If you can justify the premium, go for it. You can then sell the grey one back to grey If you get the call.

Steel sky’s are tricky. My AD is getting less than 10 total for the year in steel. This sounds low but I have amazing relationship with my AD and info is always true. My sky is coming next couple months just due to allocation and what they have already received this year. Put it this way the get more than 2x steel Daytonas than steel skys.

Here is my story: am on the waiting list for the ss blue sky since June 2021 with the company starting with a the big B here in Switzerland. Back in June 2021 they told me waiting time is around 12 years and it is impossible to get on the waiting list. I bought then a DJ36 for my wife and a DJ28 for my mum and my history helped me then immediately go get on the waiting list. I got a written confirmation for the ss blue sky.
Funny enough, a gentleman sat down next to me the moment I got the waiting list confirmation and wanted to purchase a ss blue sky. Another sales person explained him that they don't have any for sale and they don't even can't put him on eh waiting list because it is already full. Two months ago I've received an email from B, that there are changes effecting my ordered ss blue sky and I shall confirm it by email that I am accepting those changes. But: the email didn't explain at all what changed. So I called B and the lady said, that just the calibre changed. I asked then how long the waiting time is. She explained, that they get less than 10 ss sky's per year and currently the 2018 orders are delivered. So currrent waiting time here in Switzerland is down to 5 years. |

I have been bugging my AD for awhile now and have just about given up hope for a SS SkyD. He said he just hasn’t seen many come in lately, and this is a larger AD.
The grey price is palatable, but really prefer to buy new from my AD. If I didn’t have an 8” wrist I would be happy with a Datejust. |

I waited 3 months from the release date for a blue dial on jubilee from my AD. It was the 3rd unit delivered to my region. I wear it more than any other watch I own.
Regarding 9001 vs 9002. The 9002 should be much harder to break the mechanism in the command bezel. The 9001 was prone to having issues if you bumped it too hard in the command bezel area. This stopped the command bezel from engaging at all once broken. The 2022 9001 movement has updates in it to address this, I suspect they refined it further as idiots like me were still able to break them hence the 9002 movement being released. |

I was lucky enough to be offered the new green SS Sky Dweller this week and was delighted to accept. My AD is not a large chain and this was the first of the new dial that they had received. According to him the SS model is one where the demand/supply ratio is still a big issue.
As a few others have said, will be interesting to see where the green dial fits into the current SS hierarchy. |

I waited for about a little less than a year for my SS Blue dial, but I have good purchase history (so does the wife).
I will be real honest I would have never asked because I have always heard how hard it is to get, but my AD ended up getting one as a Demo that I was able to try on. From that point on I was hooked and had to have it, and I was very luck I didn't have a super crazy wait.

market conditions are pretty favorable for a sky dweller buyer right now, so i'd go grey and be done. you're basically at msrp plus tax (or a little bit more) at this point. no need to wait for or deal with an AD for a SkyD.

No history with the AD. Walked in and chatted on my day off. Was offered a white dial. Got lucky.
