GS service in the EU

I called the newly established GS boutique of a major jewelr in Greece and enquired about servicing and availability of certain models.

On the servicing part:

Movement service or repair is done in the Netherlands service center while the Zaratsu polishing can only be done in Japan. A ballpark figure for movement overhaul is around €700 while the Zaratsu polishing costs around €350. Have not asked about turnaround time.
Also, contrary to the "washing hands" 3-year interval notice on literature, GS recommends a movement overhaul is carried out only if something actually breaks.

On availability:

I enquired on the SBGJ239 which I don't see in their (the jeweler's) online catalogue. I was told though that it can probably be ordered and even possibly on bracelet!!!
Waiting for some further information; ad soon as they call me back, I'll post an update.

Seems like a lot of steps in the right direction, I like that

Indeed but then rightfully so imho.

As per the AD, the watch can be ordered and can be had in as little as 10 days provided it's readily available. Also, they will ship all over the country

Interesting bit about the service interval, I always thought the 3-year interval was ridiculous. By any chance, did you ask about servicing a Spring Drive?

Exactly my thoughts too on the 3 years servicing intervals

Yes, SD movements can be serviced in the EU

I am not planning to have my Spring Drives serviced before at least 5-6 years (fingers crossed)…

I don't think you'll have to. Wearing the heck out of mine and hasn't missed a beat. Not that it has one, to begin with
