Vacheron bracelet
Any feedback on the lack of taper on the Overseas bracelet? I know it has been mentioned before but I’m curious on thoughts from owners, good or bad?

Pretty bad, but they've improved it starting with the new retrograde moonphase.
I talk about it and show the difference in my video review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s26ZSSTGZoI |

I mean not much to say, it’s not tapered. I don’t have a problem with it. My wrist is right at 7.5” and I find my 5500 easy to wear. I like it, different from a Sub or a DJ, but that’s part of the point.

I’ve got a 5500 and never found it uncomfortable. I think it’s one of the better looking sports bracelets on the market. Masculine but still refined.

I have a 4500v and have had zero issues with it. It's great, and IMO more comfortable than a Royal Oak's.

I had the 4500v. It was one of the most comfortable bracelets I've worn on my 6.75" wrist.

Lack of taper was not an issue for me, and my wrist is 6.5 inches.

I always assumed people’s issue with non tapered was aesthetics related - is it a comfort thing for some?
The only bracelets I’ve ever found uncomfortable are ones without on the fly micro adjust. Not being tapered has never been a thing for me even with SMPs I’ve owned.

I usually stick to the rubber or leather straps, but I didn't even notice the lack of taper; it certainly doesn't affect my comfort in a negative way.

My only complaint with the bracelet is it makes the Overseas a bit heavier than I like. Otherwise no issue with the taper.

Many here are saying the Overseas has no taper, but I believe it's a 23/20 taper, at least on the 4500v. That's admittedly not much taper, but it does taper.
I think 23/18 would be slightly more elegant, and I'm looking forward to seeing the new bracelets they're using for the retrograde date model. Too much taper would give it a different, and more dainty feel IMHO. |

I had a 4500V and one of the things I didn’t like was that the bracelet barely had any taper, but also the thickness and heft of the bracelet was a bit too much for me. The bracelet is beautiful and wears really well, it feels soft to the touch, so it’s just a matter of taste.
I personally love a bracelet with a lot of taper as it emphasizes the case instead of the bracelet, so it just all depends on what you normally prefer. If you prefer taper on most of your watches then an Overseas might not be the best watch to get. If you don’t care about taper, it’s an amazing piece to own. But as you are asking this question, it might be you have a preference….. |
