What’s your take on the 914/915

After my uncle purchased a 1360 last month I have been eyeing Panerai more and more. I’ve done a fair bit of research, but I’m curious as to how you guys who really know Panerai feel about the 914/915. I like the idea of the 8 day and the sandwich dial, and from what I can tell that relatively universal to Panerai lovers. Ideally I would like to go new… I do really enjoy the 233 which also seems to be a favorite, but what do you guys think of these 2 models as far as being quintessentially Panerai. All suggestions for what to look at are welcome… the only thing I’ve seen so far that bothers me is the 10 bar water resistance. Probably won’t dive with it… but I feel like it should be 30 bar.

Hello, 914/915 are 30 bar, not 10 bar. So they will be ok for your need ;) (not sure if you were talking about them or about the 233, which is 10 bars).

914 feels very comfortable, and I find the 2 hands dial very peaceful. The glow is a little bit weaker than traditionnal yellow-green sandwich dials, because of the slightly tobacco color. It's still perfectly readable for me.

I own a 914. It's exactly what I wanted: a no-date watch with an impressive power reserve that was manual wind and had military provenance. It is large and easy to read.

I have the 915, because I wanted a second hand. I have 7.5 inch wrists, it wears smaller than you would expect. The sandwich dial and the crown guard were a must for me, and like you, I'd prefer to buy new. It has a unique, uncluttered old school look, that I find cool. It has 30 bar WR, and I wind it once a week when I wear it.
It catches my eye like no other watch I have ever owned. Great watch.

Great looking watch, and like many Panerais, quite inexpensive in the aftermarket

I love the Panerai brand in general. Owning only one, namely 1028 which wears really very comfortable.

Look like excellent watches to me and follow that 112/560 lineage. Perhaps the last great ones of that kind before they started doing 10bar and snap on solid case backs to cover the unfinished movements?

You get essentially a 10 day PR, not 8 and in a bit thinner classical form (sandwich dial, bettarini case, 13.5mm thick with 300m WR). A future classic.

I have the 914 reference as I like the dial symmetry.

I have a 915 and love it. I wear it more than my submariner and if I need to dress it down I put the rubber strap on

I checked them out in Vegas this week. The faux lume was a deal breaker I just couldn’t do it. Now I’m trying to find a sandwich 560.
