Santos or Santos-Dumont as a dress watch?

Good day,
I am in the market for a dress watch, one that is <40mm. The Cartier Tank is an option but is on the small side. Wondering if the Santos or Santos-Dumont, both on leather, and in medium or small size, respectively, are good dress watch options? Of course I’d prefer a 5196 but it is not in the cards at the moment.
