My first 9F

Over the past few years I've become an admirer of Grand Seiko's 9F quartz movements and today finally took the plunge and am a first time 9F owner, specifically the 9F62 in this SBGX261. The 37 mm x 10 mm case wears so nicely and the finishing is typical top notch GS, even at this lower price point. Couldn't be happier.

Love that inky black dial! Congratulations I've worn mine most days since I bought it almost six years ago. The only downside is that, as it's always ready to go, it tends to get chosen over the automatics if I don't feel like setting them, and they get neglected.

Thanks very much Adam! Truth be told, your posts and and watch are a major contributor on my path to a 9F. I first found out about the movement through reading your 9F accuracy threads on here and seeing your SBGT2335 wrist shots. Your appreciation for the 9F is contagious!

Nice watch. I have been on the search for a 42mm GS Quartz but have not found one. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Congratulations, nice photo and fits your wrist perfectly!
It has crazy accuracy way better than advertised one, I think mine took less than 4 sec in 8 months, after that I stopped looking for this realizing what is capable of.

Is that dial light green? It’s stunning!

Really really beautiful watch! And yes the 9Fs are great watches for sure.

I was at the Seiko house in Tokyo a few weeks ago - and ended buying nothing as I could not choose between so many stunning watches. I’ll be in Japan again in Jan, and this time will not be so indecisive!

Thanks, no it's actually a silver sunburst, but depending in the light can look champagne sunburst or even a flat white.

9F watches are outstanding. It amazing accuracy and extremally long service intervals has a lot going for it to say the least.

I've been spoiled since getting my 9F GMT back in February. It's always accurate, just grab and go. It eventually led me to pick up a Seiko Astron GPS in June. Now that I have two extremely accurate watches, when I wear a mechanical it feels like the time it displays is a "guesstimate"rather than the correct time. If accuracy is important, you can't beat the 9F or the Astron. Citizen also makes a great watch in the Chonomaster.

Some people don't like the tick of the seconds hand in quartz (that used to be me), but after getting the GS 9F, I'm really starting to gravitate towards quartz over mechanical.

Yep, much the same experience for me. The 9F gets most of my wrist time. I even don't mind the ticking, since listening to it (up close) reminds me of the sound of a grandfather clock (with the same 60 beats per minute).

My 9F never disappoints. Dead on accuracy and amazing finishing detail. I still love my mechanical watches for the marvel of engineering that they are, but the GS 9F is in its own category of technical achievement.
