Luminor Quarantas DO NOT HACK, and short review

Hi all, I went to Panerai Boutique on 11/11/23 and confirming that the P.900 calibre inside does NOT hack seconds. The sales associate told me it has never hacked in the Luminor Quarantas. I'm sharing this because some have said that it originally didn't hack but that Panerai would be changing it to hacking sometime this year. Doesn't seem like they have. I also want to note that when playing with the movement, the minute hand DID jump a minute or two when pushing and/or pulling the crown in/out. Now I can't remember if it was when pushing or pulling or both, but it happened on about 1/3 of the times I tried. I'm not a movement nerd but to those who are, is this concerning at all?

In regards to the watch, the 40mm white sandwich dial 1371 was quite lovely. I actually wished it was a 41 or 42mm, just to give it that extra Panerai presence, without being too large for my 7inch wrist. The case wore well on my wrist and the alligator strap added a nice touch of class. It also comes with a military green rubber, but I feel it would look nicest on a brown calf strap (which apparently it came with originally when first launched a few years ago, instead of the green rubber).

The date feature is something I don't need, I wished it was just a number "3" there instead as I think that looks better and cleaner. Bottom line, there are a lot of things I like about this watch, but there are also a few things I wish were different, with price being one of them! $9900 Canadian msrp is a little too much for this watch, at least for me it is. I might have walked out of the store if it were around $8500.

I have the black version and fits great on my 7.5” wrist. I use leather for work, rubber for vacations. Quick release is awesome! Don’t really care if time is exact as not my daily. I bought over the summer while vacationing in Athens. The boutique there was great to work with.

I'm loving my Quaranta (6.5" wrist).
Yes, the non-hacking movement and the hands jumping when closing the crown protection lever is a bit annoying, but it doesn't detract from my overall enjoyment of this watch.

I'm still patiently waiting for Panerai to release more quick-release strap options for this watch. Come on Panerai, this watch has been out for a couple of years now...

Oh and hello from a fellow Vancouverite :D

I understand some have an issue with non-hacking on a Panerai, that's fine.

For me, it's not an issue. The dial doesn't have individual minute markers, so it's all "approximate" anyway.

I own a Vacheron triple calendar with a Geneva seal movement that doesn’t hack…never been an issue for me.

I prefer the Radiomir version, and OP, I totally agree that a "3" would be so much better than the date!!
