DD40 advice please

I am in the market for a yellow gold DD40 with my only specific requirement being a roman numeral dial.

I like the look of the champagne dial but was wondering if it would be too much gold?

Anyone else go through the same thought process before buying? What were your experiences?

Thanks

It is best to see what dials strike your fancy by visiting multiple ADs and seeing them in person. Online photos often don't do justice to many dials.

The champagne dial is def a classis and iconic dial color. The colors blend so very nicely, which also makes it hard for me to read.

I bought a dd40 yello gold with silver dial (sunburst) with roman numerals last weekend. In person, it looks more white than silver (depends on the angle and ambient light).

Best thing to do is to see them for yourself. Especially, since it is a big spend item and you do not want buyers remorse.

I would absolutely LOVE to have a champagne DD in any size.

I think the GOLD is the centerpiece and having the gold color on the dial is even better. But really, I don't think you can go wrong with any DD. It's just a great timepiece and extremely iconic.

I have had many different day-dates. I love the monochromatic look of the DD 40 champagne romans, but I personally find the legibility a bit challenging. The white is nice and crisp and easy to read. I think it depends on your eyesight, preferences & priorities.

Definitely personal taste and depends on what your style is... I personally love the silver dial as it's so classic but love the robustness of the lacquer green dial...

Legibility isn’t great on the Roman, that’s why you do what I did, the ultimate DD- YG Champagne Baguette

I went with a YG DD with white dial romans. I will not sell the watch in the future, but my eyes will get worse, so I wanted something with nice contrast for legibility. So far I have been very happy with it...but maybe in 10-20 years I'll dial swap to something else :)

If you're set on YG then I would go with the black baguette dial

I tried on the YG white dial with romans a week or so ago and it was fantastic. If you want romans and yellow gold, this would be my choice!

I went with the white roman dial.
I think it gives it a bit of a sporty look while the champagne just is old man in my mind but you need to pic which you like most!
Nothing like a DD40!

I've had 2 36mm DD. Both YG with champagne dials. It was too much "gold" for me. If I were to get another one it would be the silver dial. for the 40mm, I'd go silver or white dial

Had 36mm, Brian (Briboxer) here on TRF knew I was looking for a specific 40mm, he got one, called me and I bought it.

Both of mine are Champagne Diamond Dials and I love the look. I traded in the 36mm as I figured I wouldn't wear it anymore. I think I was right but it was in such good condition I wish I would have kept it. The only watch I've ever let go...

Good Luck Getting What You Want!

Day-Date YG Green dial is gorgeous but very hard to get.

Actually all Day-Date look very good, it's a matter of personal taste, go with the one that you love the most.

Is it difficult to just get the green dial separately through an AD?

I have a 36 champagne yg, not too much for me. For forty I'd probably do silver dial.

I was just allocated a YG DD40 with champagne dial / diamond indices, and personally I think it's a stunning combination. But most certainly YMMV :)

I have owned the white, silver, black and champagne dials. All are nice and unique. I currently have the Champagne YG DD II. I like the retro look. It is a lot of gold but I look at it as, why not.

For 36mm, I’d absolutely go with the champagne dial.

With the 40mm, the champagne still looks stunningly gorgeous in person but it has a ton of wrist presence which you might not want…though any YG DD40 will have a lot of presence.

Whatever you decide, try them on before you commit.

Ended up pulling the trigger on this...

Im young for what is probably an older generation configuration but if the dial ends up being too much I can just change it later!

This. YG watch, champagne dial, gold markers - I went 36mm. Contrasting dials on YG/RG or WG watch, think the 40mm has better aesthetic.

Aboslutely stunning watch, congratulations!

And I don't think you'll decided to change out the dial later, although it is good peace of mind knowing you can.

Great choice

The monotone look is classic on the DD. It flows so well.
