Daytona Advise Please

Hello all, I am going to buy a Rolex Daytona SS white face from someone (Yet to find the deal yet), but first have to know what would be better, a Zenith movement or the Rolex movement model. I am told that as of 2002 Rolex put in their own movement, is this correct?

I own a few Rolexes, but want to now delve into the Daytona market that is very new to me.
Many thanks for any advise.

If you're after the better movement . the In-House Rolex would be the obvious choice.
Some prefer the aesthetics of the Zenith dial.

Either one is a great choice..

The new Daytona (116520) came out in 2000 and will contain the latest in-house 4130 movement..

The previous decade will contain the Rolex modified Zenith 4030 movement, and before that they contain the Valjoux 22 series of movements...

Different Daytona fans see different things in each of these variations.. but it's universally held amongst knowledgeable watchers that the latest 4130 is technically and mechanically a "better" movement..

Thank you for the advice. Think I should buy the later movement.

SS Zenith would be a better value long term as it has been discontinued. Prices on SS Zenith Daytonas should only appreciatte. Especially as the economy improves. If you can get your hands on one with box and papers that might be the way to go.

Can't go wrong with any of them.
