Submariner two tone - Blue or Black?
Tryin to decide on purchasing a 2018 Submariner and don't know which way to go as far as price and retention of value. They are both around 14K with B+P. And would it be a good idea to trade a 2020 126334 blue dial B+P towards this? been offered 10K

The $10K offer would depend on the color and condition.
The TT blue sub historically does not hold its value as well as the black SS watch. It should be cheaper in the used market, I think. Either way, $14K sounds high, very high.

I would go blue. A lot more striking piece. It’s the prettiest dial I think Rolex makes. Right now the current model blue dial 2 tone sub is going for about $1000 more than the black version. Historically, I have no idea.

This. Your $10K trade offer is about right. The TRF way is keep both if you can swing it.

If you love watches for what they are (and not an investment) you need to get the one that you like best, not what others like best. That is ALL that matters, what you like. If you are interested in retention value, invest in something else, and not a watch. No one can predict what the watch values might do in the future.

Buy what you like.
I prefer black, unless I wanted to sell used cars.

Black, as I dislike the clash of the sunburst dial against the flat of ceramic bezel on the blue.

On a purchase such as this the dial color should solely be based upon which you prefer. Retention value should be irrelevant. That being said I prefer the black. I think it is more elegant and understated than the blue which screams summertime and look at me watch. Blue is great as a second watch for the right occasions, but the black is a great all year around watch.
