26240 Calibre 4401 Issues!

Hi everyone,

I am thinking of asking for the 26240 as my next watch. I have been seeing collectors posting issues with the 4401 Calibre.... Can someone share their experience with this watch? Thanks

Mine (26420CE offshore) had a issue with the chronograph minute hand engaged and moving even when the chrono was off. This was on day 1. I went back into AP on day 2, they were very apologetic and got it fixed with no charge within 3 weeks. I've had no issues since.

Similar overall gist for my case.

New 2023 43 offshore chrono. Had it 2 weeks and the left chrono hand started moving in its own over night. Sent it in for service it took 3 weeks. Brought it to AP nyc boutique and they sent it in. Now it has been perfect! Great watch. Get it. It might be a non issue now for the watches being sold new.

I received one of the very first 26240 produced at launch for the 50th anniversary, have worn it MANY times since then. Not a single issue and haven't had to service it yet.

Same issue on my 26240 as above posters re: minutes subdial (received in Apr 2023, issue appeared in Sep); sent in for service and came back ~6 weeks later. Had to send it back in for an unrelated issue, should be coming back on Friday! Still my favorite watch though.

Much shorter tenure for me, as I’ve only had my watch a bit over a week (ROO 26420io), in which it’s seen almost nonstop wrist time with lots of playing around with the chrono: absolutely no issues. Wonderful watch and the movement is very much a sight to behold.

Have both the 26420 and 26240, the 26420 started having the minute subdial creep recently and sent it in. A complete maintenance service will be done.

So far haven't seen any 26240 with the creeping minute subdial problem. Not even the code.

26240 Calibre 4401 Issues!

Happening a second time in my 26420RO and happened for first time on 26240CE.

Not great and will lodge complaints when I have time to bring them in. Makes me never want to buy anything again with the 4401

Did they tell what reason why the 26240 has such issue?

They claimed that 26240 is thier latest in house movement...but there are many QC issues on that...you should file a complaint to their HQ on the QC issues...

I hv also 26240 RO with the subdial not aligned to the position...believe that shoud be the spring problem

Have my 26240 with 4401 about a month and no issues so far. Timing is ~+1s/day which I think is great! If anything does come up, I just bring it in and they will fix it no problems so not worried and just enjoying it now.

It happens to both the CODE and 26240 as well. But it's a simple fix.

I was told it was the spring's tension issue. A batch problem with the springs.

Not sure if I entirely believe the spring tension story. My ROO was purchased in 2021 and ROC at end of 23. So either they’re knowingly putting defective springs into watches until recently or there’s a fundamental issue at play.

Did AP extend the warranty since it is thier spring issues? And the servicing also took 5-6weeks to be done...as a good will, AP should extend warranty for few months..

Warranty comes into play to rectify issues at manufacture's level at no cost to the customer. So basically that's what they are doing to make things right. I don't think any company from any industry that provides warranty coverage extends warranty period just because of an issue that can be rectified easily within a reasonable time frame.
