Offer your watch for others to try

An interesting thought, would you offer your watches for someone your trust (friends/ family members) to try them on ?

I’ve offered my watch to people just above stranger status to try on. Loaning for a day or something I’d only do with family, but to just try on and check it out? I don’t see the harm.

Cannot see why not it's just a watch that shows the time on the wrist nothing more.

I’ve given my LV sub to a random guy in an AD to try.

He saw it and was clearly very excited having never seen one.

The AD was my AD, I know them well, and they had security doors which probably swung it for me.

Aside from that, if I know them I always give them my watches to try. Why not.

Yes of course but none of my friends or family have any interest whatsoever in watches other than a tool to tell time……

I have for sure, many times. Only issue is when they give it back I am obsessively wiping off their finger prints.

It depends on who is asking, where we are and the environment, on the street or in a public place probably not.

All the time. If I had any doubt about whether I’d get them back they wouldn’t be trusted friends or family.

Absolutely with family. My nephew borrowed a Sub for a while before he got his first. Now he has the Lefty GMT and a Blue DateJust. He’s on his way!

Personally, one of the best parts of our hobby is sharing our passion with others. Don't see any harm letting someone try on a watch, I've let complete strangers try on my RMs, APs etc etc. I'm also pretty quick on my feet should one of them be a runner. Now letting them borrow the watch is a different story.

Sometimes it can end in disaster.
It depends upon the setting and who it is, but I have done it on three occasions over the years without a problem.
Though it could've turned out badly the last time as it was almost dropped onto a tile floor.
It happens, and tile floors are notorious for causing regret.

Are you sure that's what you meant to ask?

Trying it, or letting it be tried for some days, are two different questions! I don't think it's worth asking the first, but I'd be even more curious about the second. For example, I would not like to let you try out my watches in this form.

If asked about it by anyone I know even casually and have no reason to mistrust I generally take it off and hand it to them. People generally ask if they want to take it up a notch and try it on. I only know a few that I'd actually loan to but wouldn't rule it out. They're just things.

I do it all the time for people I know who ask if they try it on (friends, family, coworkers, etc.). Usually the bracelet is too tight for them to close the clasp because I have a 6 3/4" wrist, but they can get a feel for its weight and how it looks on their wrist.

I generally do not take my watch off for people to try on. Too easy to drop it.

Try on? Yes for the guys I know are real watch fans. I let two young guys at shop I frequent try on a full YG sub. The treated almost like it was radioactive, amusing to watch. Take for a couple of days? Whole different deal. I know maybe two people that I would let wear out the door.

Always. I made a great friend at work because in our break area he noticed the Tudor I was wearing (nobody in the prior six months had ever said a word, nor do I expect anyone to) and I found a fellow watch nerd and we try each others watches on all the time. Great for ones that don't have an AD around us.

I let my two sons (24 and 22) where whatever watch of mine they like when they visit. I let my mate wear a Royal Oak for a couple of weeks. I’ll happy let anyone I know look at one of my watches or try them on if they show interest.

Watches are for wearing and enjoying, I’m not precious about them
