AP Sand Gold Theory

There are rumors of a new gold coming out from AP. "Sand Gold." The official color of the taupe dials on the 11.59 is "sand" so naturally people are speculating that the Sand Gold will resemble that brownish gold color.

I tried playing around in photoshop to create a color gradient that matches the taupe aesthetic and I think this looks pretty good. A brown gold between rose and yellow would be an amazing addition!

Really excited to see what AP comes up with :)

Interested to see this sand gold in person, I think it's a mixture of gold to make a new beige color, quite similar to your photoshopped images. To me it should be a win win, as it won't be as loud as yellow gold and should pair well with outfits.

It'll probably be comparable to Lange's honeygold

AP social club is the release event they’ve been hosting instead of going to watch expos.

https://www.audemarspiguet.com/com/e...cial-club.html

Last years event was pretty low key:

https://timeandtidewatches.com/ap-so...umbo-and-more/

I don’t think there was any publicity directly from AP, but lots of stuff from various watch press.

I believe this years event is Mar 3rd-9th based on what I’ve found online. I’m not sure what is required for an invite, likely press credentials/close friends of the brand.

I feel like this years event might bring back coverage giving a chance for both the new CEO and Head of Complications to discuss the future of AP under new management.

Thanks for sharing

Very interested to see what AP actually launch here and push the precious metal envelope.

Whilst they are mostly out of my pay grade, the frosted gold references are just incredible.

From people that have seen the sand gold in the flesh its more like a white gold that at some angles turns a little brownnish for a fraction of a second. Depending on light you might confuse it for standard steel

Just got an invite for the social club for the unveiling of new models for the first half of 2024. This picture was in the invite… looks like sand gold to me!

Don’t hate me, but gonna be similar in color to Hublot’s Magic Gold? Interested to see what comes out.

There are only so many things you can mix with gold after all.

Magic Gold is actually in spite of the silly name quite an interesting material. I’m truly no Hublot fan as I think 99% of their watches look tacky, but they are doing some interesting stuff with new fusion materials.

I personally am quite excited about the new color, as I usually am too self aware to pull off rose and yellow gold, so I’m looking forward to something that is maybe a bit more subdued. Looking forward to handling one of these in the very near future.

It’s hard to explain, it’s a lighter colour. Like pink gold without the pink hues. Think sand dunes at dusk.

I think I will like it. Just as I like older white gold watches that turn a bit yellowish
