Yellow Gold Choices...??

Blue Dial Sub in yellow goldor the Day-Date ii (41mm) White Dial yellow gold??
I love everything about the Subs, every Sub is amazing... especially the Blue dial... however the Day-Date to me IS Rolex. It's the ultimate watch, ultimate status symbol and every celebrity, doctor, lawyer any successful person always wears one... so which would you buy??

YG Submariner date w/Blue dial is spectacular.
The Day-Date references are for my Father (I will be there one day)

I prefer the day-date. It is the trump card of Rolex imho.

Yellow Gold Choices...??

I don’t love the YG Sub LB (I used to own It too) but I’d take a lot of things over a DD 2, including that Sub

Proportions are just way too off on that DD 2

I have both Day Date in yellow gold and white romans 40 and a black dial sub ( personally the blue isn’t for me).

DD’s is truly the best looking Rolex. The best bracelet.
I got DD’s first before getting the sub.

Sub i wear as more sporty outfits, say more relaxed…DD’s wear great with any outfit. Love it in summer jeans and T or shorts/shirt…

I’m new yiu own a DD you realize why.

Go for any DD first, then add yg sub.

DD for me.

Sub feels like it belongs more on a white metal.

The Day Date. It’s my personal “goal” piece. While easy to obtain at this moment, I will not award myself with one until I’m 40.

No wrong choice here, both are spectacular. If you have other professional series pieces and no DD, I’d go that route.

When I think of a Rolex in precious metal, I instantly think of this exact DD40.

The DD II 41mm is an eyesore IMHO. I had several when they came out and the proportions are just off. So for me I would never consider a DDII as they just don’t look all that nice. So between the 2 definitely a gold sub or any other PM sports model for that matter. Why wouldn’t you opt for a new DD40? By the way one doesn’t have to be successful to own a DD nor does owning one equate to being successful.

It’s true, if you’re wearing a YG DD then almost undoubtedly you’re a successful person and also quite amazing and cultured!

YG DD40 paired with a SS sport model.
The 41mm DDII's proportions are way out of wack for me.

I maybe one of the only fans of the DD II but I am. I have owned them in every metal and for my 7.5-7.75 inch wrist they work best for me in the DD lineup. With that said, you will always have an issue with adjustability and fit with a DD. No micro adjustments or glide lock or easy link system for a dialed in fit. The only adjustability is adding or removing links. I have made peace with this and just enjoy the watch for what it is. I also own the YG Submariner 116618LB. The blue dial is amazing and the fit is perfect every time with the glide lock. If I had to choose it would probably be the DD today but ask me tomorrow after I have worn my Submariner and it would probably be different. Good luck and pick the one you want.

I don’t mind the dd2 just for the record.
But my YG sub is my favorite Rolex to wear so I’ll recommend that here.

I too would take the Sub over the DDii. I too think its proportions are a bit off. The 40mm DD got it right.

If you can't have both, I'd recommend the DDII. I have 2 DDIIs. YG white Roman and Platinum blue wave dial. Love them both. Happy Hunting!!!

I always thought that blue wave was white gold. Didn’t realize that was a plat! Very cool

I would say that it depends on how and where you will wear it.
If you dress more businesslike or formally, thenDD. If you live in casual clothes and bathing suits, the Sub.

I think that having both would be the best of all, possible worlds. The Sub , to me, is easoer to love in both environments, especially in gold. The DD just doesn’t look casual or for sports, beach etc.

Very subjective and JMHO

The Sub looks better to me. The DD is nice, but better suited to a senior watch enthusiast, IMHO (like 60+).

One doesn’t have to be successful to own one, but if you didn’t inherit it, and you aren’t “successful,” you might not be making the best decisions…
