Evolution of Rolex Polishing Cloth?

Getting into the weeds here, but curious if anyone has any knowledge on the history and evolution of Rolex's polishing cloth design? Specifically the time periods in which each variant was produced and given out upon sale?

Empirically, just from the sample listings I've looked at, I see four different varieties. I describe each below, and provide some examples I've found on TRF:

To me, there at least appears to be a time around the early 2000s where Variant #2 is replaced by Variant #3, and again around the late 2000s where Variant #3 is replaced by Variant #4. Unclear without picking through more examples when Variant #1 is replaced by Variant #2.

As I said, this is purely what I've seen from the limited examination I've done. Would love to know if anyone has more knowledge on this.
