Buying in Hong Kong

Hi all.

I'm planning to buy a Rolex in Hong Kong. The one I'm eyeing has no box or papers, so I was wondering how I can verify its authenticity. Can I bring it to the service center?

Thanks

To clarify it is a pretty big dealer, just afraid it'll be a frankenwatch

You can take it to the RSC in Jardine House, tell them you just bought it and ask does it need a service. I haven't been for a few years but that's what I used to do. Maybe you can post some pics up here and we can have a look. Who is the dealer?

This one? https://www.28watches.com/product-pa...way-bay-branch

Pics aren't great but a company like that won't risk their rep on something like this.

It's the 39800 HKD one, and yeah I guess they wouldn't risk their reputation but just making sure.

Yeah, I just changed the link above. At least it seems to have the white tag.

I used to have one of those and it looks good but as mentioned for piece of mind take it to Jardin house and have it looked at.
They are a reputable dealer….

I'm only in Hong Kong for 3 days. Do you think I can just walk in and ask or should I book an appointment as stated on their google maps?

I used to just walk in, but last time was a few years ago. It used to be easy to just walk in, get them to have a look and tell you what was needed (with a cost quote) after a tech had a look for 15-20 minutes. Maybe it's changed now.

I think it is. Looked around google reviews and there's a photo with a sign saying appointment only. Not open on weekends and that's when I'll be there so that's a bummer. Do you know the turnaround time for a service? I think I could book one elsewhere.

Fastest they ever did for me was 11 days, but it was usually closer to 3 weeks.

I'm in HK too.

Make an appointment with Classic Watch Repair in Central (http://www.classicwatchrepair.com) for the day you pick up your watch, and they'll be able to open it and verify its authenticity for you.

I've even walked into their shop with watches I just bought, they opened them and had a quick look, and gave me their opinion, no charge.
