AP Boutique Atlanta Closing

Now that it has been confirmed that AP Atlanta will be shuttering in May.. what are your plans, for anyone who has been using that boutique?

Is this true????

I really don't want to be forced to deal with the new AP Trap House there.

Lenox Square is a cesspool. The fact WoS got one there at all was crazy.

Yes it's a WOS owned AD, it is confirmed.. rumors are there may be an AP house at some point in the future but nobody knows when or even if

That's a shame to hear. I hope WOS opens up another one.

If they do, let's hope it's not SF rather Palo Alto or Sant Clara (Valley Fair)

I'm cool with either Palo Alto or valley Fair. Even if it's in Dublin

Probably of limited utility to the Atlanta orphans

AP sometimes has an interesting approach for changing their local operations. The original Taipei boutique in 101 is also closing long before the next door AP house finishes construction (but at least in this case there's another boutique in 15min walking distance). With all retail outlets on the same CRM one would hope that they find a more routine way to carry over "relationships" from closed outlets (and departing SAs). Shouldn't be so hard to do much better than Rolex or Patek, where normal collectors are just SOL when their AD closes.

That’s an interesting decision given the strong Atlanta market and clientele. I wonder if this was a decision by WoS, or if AP dictated the closing for some reason. We’ll never know.

AP is transitioning to 100% corporate stores. They will not be renewing partnerships with franchisees.

Yes! If my AD gets AP I’m immediately going for a Star Wheel!

Wait, is the 101 boutique closing? When is that happening?

Closed last week. I think there will be a pop up somewhere prior to the AP house opening. A13 is the only thing open now.

ALS will take over the old AP space in 101.

Oh dang, I had no idea. I was just there a month ago.

Atlanta AP with WoS was weird as they don't use the same CRM as corporate, which sucks for anyone with history there. I suspect more and more of these will be closing soon if Atlanta is closing as they start adding fully corporate owned boutiques. Wouldn't be surprised to see Dallas and Vegas Palazzo being on the chopping block in the near future.

Dallas is owned as a joint venture with Material Good. They also own the New York boutique, I believe. I was told by someone within AP's corporate apparatus that 100% of AP retail distribution will be owned by AP in the future.

MG also jointly owns the Boston boutique and opened the NY AP House, which have both been great successes. Not sure why (or how) AP would consider taking these over themselves.

Oh is Dallas with MG? Does MG use AP corporate CRM or separate? I would assume the NY ones definitely would be on AP CRM. Atlanta AP WoS was on a separate CRM than corporate. WoS Rolex could see my request list for AP Atlanta, but corporate AP boutiques couldn't see my interest list with Atlanta. I did feel they didn't operate the same way as a true corporate AP location.

I’m not 100% sure bout WOS, but AP/MG is a joint venture, and they’re supposed to operate as a corporate store.

If I were placing bets, my guess is Palazzo and Chicago are next.

I don't think they would. The difference is AD vs JV. MG and AP have been a great pairing and the employees within these JVs are employees of AP NA Inc.

Sorry...that is a lot abbreviations...lol.

AP Boutique Atlanta Closing

It's true that Mall is awful for the violence surrounding and inside it.

The Rolex and PP AD nearby moved everything to Roswell which is North of that area.

WOS just opened the AP boutique in Summer of 2019. I think the pandemic also shunted traffic out of shops into online secondary sales.

Swiss Watch Expo (which is near the Lenox Mall) doubled online sales during that period (they are an independent reseller of any brand).

Glad I declined the Code 1159 that Sara offered in order to get on the list for a RO41. Hopefully not too many got suckered into bundling with them since they don’t share CRM with AP corporate.

Yes, e.g. the Boston and NYC AP House JVs use the AP CRM. I'm surprised there were still outlets that didn't. Doesn't bode well for the soon-to-be-former ATL customers.

Looks like you're right. I noticed an easy way to tell if they are using AP CRM is the store email address on AP website. If I look now, Palazzo, Chicago, and Atlanta are the only ones using non-AP domain emails in the US. So there must be ones that are true JV w/ AP and some that are still more of a JV/AD structure.
