Ref 18248 case back question

This case on a ref 18248 is really weird to me. There seems to be a big lip where the caseback meets the case? I don’t remember ever seeing that on a DD. This is also a pretty worn and polished example as well. Could over polishing through the years do this or is this not a genuine piece? Thanks all!
