Icon5 How much value do new stickers (2019 Daytona) actually have?

I'm looking at buying a 2019 stainless steel Daytona black dial that a dealer friend is offering me. It's brand new old stock and it's a complete set with everything the way it originally came including both tags and stickers. In your opinion how much value does it add if it still has all of its stickers from Rolex like new? Is that worth paying a premium for compared to other ones I've seen sell online or is this something that would really only be worth paying more for if you're a serious collector? The dealer is asking a few thousand higher than I've seen others sell for but those were not brand new with stickers. Thanks for opinions in advance!

It’s worth what you think it is. You at least know for sure then the watch hasn’t been polished. I personally would pay no more than $250- $500 more. Unless you’re buying as an investment that you’re going to never wear, it doesn’t make a lot of sense.

No extra value for me the watch is the most important and not plastic stickers that are just fit for the bin and would not pay extra.

That's basically how I feel I told him I don't think I'm the right buyer for it because I'm not a collector who lets it sit in the safe I actually wear my watches. Thanks for the quick replies!

Are you going to wear and use the watch? If so that condition means nothing to me.

Yes I would be actively wearing it and I agree I don't want to pay a few thousand more just because it has the stickers.

I think it is worth something, in that it is "your" scratches, rather them someone else.

It all depends on the cost

For me it would have a value in the sense that watches that are only 1-2 years old will often receive a small brush up by the dealer and then being sold as in “perfect condition” or “new/unworn”. By buying a watch that still has its stickers, you know the history of the watch.

I am in no way against polishing, but on a watch that are only a couple of years old, I would otherwise prefer to receive it with the small scratches it would have received in that period, so that I could decide when it was time for a polish.

For you to realise the value of that mass produced watch you’d be 30 years older

It depends on their condition.

If the stickers are badly scratched or - even worse - polished or - even even worse - replacement/service stickers, then I wouldn't pay more for them.

If they look factory fresh, however, and still have their sharp edges, and you can see the tiny crown etched into each one, then they may be worth a pretty penny.

It is not worth much besides the thought and feeling of knowing you bought your watch with complete with stickers.

Sticker - Smicker
No one in there right mind would give a toss about a sticker, they can easily be put on, it’s the watch that matters and you’ve chosen a stunner if you want to get it …

Premium for stickers?

Why pay for the privilege of peeling of some plastic. Pass this one along to somebody who never intends to use this watch but will keep it the way it is forever.

Hard to say. If they are original, the watch is in pristine condition, so that is worth a few bucks more.

Another opinion.

I live in the Silicone Valley. I see a watch for sale in California: "am asking $219,950"
So some people an extra 2k may be doable!

I agree with this. I am in the same position of wanting to purchase a fully stickered 2019 or newer Daytona. I also want the stickers because a lot of greys say the watch is "new/unworn/mint condition" but when I speak to them they in fact tell me the watch has been polished by them prior to sale...I want to make my own memories and marks and decide if and when I polish my watches.

I paid about 1K more on the grey market which is nothing on the price of a Rolex.
Simply because i like to peel them off in the comfort of my own home and leave my own fingerprints

First time I hear about a crown on stickers, can they be seen by the naked eye or do I need a loupe? also is the crown on every sticker even lugs, etc.

See it this way. Without stickers you don’t know if the watch has already been polished or not. With Rolex original factory stickers it’s the guarantee the watch has never been polished. I would definitely pay a premium.

Added value? I mean maybe if you plan on buying it and never taking the stickers off....but I see no reason to pay a premium for the experience of taking said stickers off.

You are right...

And I would wonder why the dealer thought a 2019 BNIB NOS was worth more than a BNIB 2024 (especially since it has the new movement).

Out of warranty, so they don’t mean much. NOS is great, but it’s still 5 years old. So it’s an excellent condition 5 year old watch. I’d gauge the price based on that.

If you are going to wear the watch stickers are useless.

Buy one you can wear! Cheers!

The real premium value to any Rolex regardless of age is if it’s “unsized”. Stickers are nice but being unsized means it’s absolutely virgin and undamaged by any tool. Getting any new Rolex from a AD that is unsized with stickers never happens any more.
For me, I want to be THE first one to size my watch the way I like to do it. I put a value in that, way over stickers alone.
