New Sapphire Double Balance?

I was just browsing the site and came across this reference. It doesn’t give any info beyond “special edition”. I’m quite intrigued by the blued balance bridge!

Just came on to post this…. Interested to know what ‘special edition’ means. Can’t recall them using that terminology before.

Immediate reaction was it’s amazing but I think I’m less of a fan comparing it to the gold handset and balance bridge

What is your source for this being Japan edition?

Japan has had some pretty special editions in the last 3 years alone.

I also prefer the gold balance bridge on this model, but it's definitely cool to see them playing with new movement finishes. I don't recall ever seeing a blued movement part from AP...

Off the top of my head there’s the blue openworked code tourbillon, not sure if it’s the same finishing though

Concept and Code Tourbillon used it. ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition) process is what AP calls it...

Reference 15412? Is this what replaces the 15407, if so it looks pretty much the same. Probably with some power reserve updates.

Actually looks like some more skeletonization was done between 5 and 6.

All the current gemset openworked watches are ref 15412.

Ah, yes. Forgot about those.

Never noticed this difference here before between the gemset and the standard version. Wonder if it's a rendering issue.

The exact same term was used for 26331OR. Was explained by Boutique that as it was released to commemorate the 20th anniversary of ROC and it's of limited production for a short time (meaning no clear indication of production numbers nor availability timeframe), they labelled it as special edition.

My guess is probably the production numbers of the rose gold is unusually lower than the steel, only the 26331OR is labelled as Special Edition but not the 26331ST.

Thanks for that - I guess the undisclosed production allows them to alter production based on demand.
I’d imagine they wouldn’t have a problem selling this many times over

I never noticed this either. Interestingly, the 15407OR on the site looks like the movement on the right, whereas my actual watch has the movement on the left.

My guess is that the purpose is not to produce based on demand as I'm sure demand is high for any RO/ROCs. They should have a number in mind but just didn't want to announce a production number publicly as this will then be a limited edition, which again, they probably didn't want it to be as 20th anniversary is not a big thing to commemorate. Similar to the Starwheel, it's limited production but not a Limited Edition (again no numbers announced but internally, they have a number) nor is it a Special Edition (regular release with no celebrity collaboration or milestone to commemorate).
