Would you trade a Sub for an Altiplano?

Might be a controversial question:

Would you trade a Submariner 114060 for an Piaget Altiplano G0A3911?

The two are completely opposite watches. The Alti should sit at a more "prestigious" place in the world of horology, whatever that means. But the market has made the two more or less equal in price on the grey market. Neither can be bought at the AD as they have been replaced by a newer model (which are different beasts yet again)

Would you do it? Just your own opinion...

Personally, I wouldn’t trade a Rolex for a Piaget. Breguet or Calatrava? Maybe, it depends.

Is there a reason why? That particular Altiplano is quite attractive in its own right no?

I know I was just asking for everyone's personal opinions, but it certainly does play a role in shaping mine admittedly. I appreciate the opinions

Could I know why? I am asking genuinely. I am familiar with Patek, AP, ALS. My understanding is that Piaget is more of a jewelry brand (in the likes of Bulgari). Is that the reason?

Is there anything wrong with an Altiplano itself? Are they not a worthy substitute for a Calatrava or a Patrimony?

To me the Sub is a legend. It’s one of the most copied watches in the world. If there was a Mount Rushmore of watches, the Sub would be there. It’s just a very classic and timeless watch that can take a beating and keep ticking. The Piaget imo while nice is just another watch in a sea of watches.

And I’m on the bandwagon. No way

Completely different types of watches but for the $12-$15k used dress watch price point I think there are many better choices for a dress piece than an Altiplano. To each their own though.

The Sub is conservative and The Altiplano is quirky, only you know your lifestyle and what would be a better fit.

I might. I dig the Sub but I don’t plan on buying one anytime soon. The Altiplano, on the other hand, is a dope piece of haute horology.
