Would you trade a Sub for an Altiplano?
Might be a controversial question:
Would you trade a Submariner 114060 for an Piaget Altiplano G0A3911? The two are completely opposite watches. The Alti should sit at a more "prestigious" place in the world of horology, whatever that means. But the market has made the two more or less equal in price on the grey market. Neither can be bought at the AD as they have been replaced by a newer model (which are different beasts yet again) Would you do it? Just your own opinion... |

Doesn't look like it's gonna be that controversial after all.
And no...I would not. |

If you like that style, why not, it’s just a watch.
Personally, I wouldn’t trade a Rolex for a Piaget. Breguet or Calatrava? Maybe, it depends. |

I really didn't expect the adamant answers tbh. Interesting point about the Calatrava.
Is there a reason why? That particular Altiplano is quite attractive in its own right no? I know I was just asking for everyone's personal opinions, but it certainly does play a role in shaping mine admittedly. I appreciate the opinions |

No, but I would certainly trade a Piaget Altiplano G0A3911 for a Submariner 114060.

Could I know why? I am asking genuinely. I am familiar with Patek, AP, ALS. My understanding is that Piaget is more of a jewelry brand (in the likes of Bulgari). Is that the reason?
Is there anything wrong with an Altiplano itself? Are they not a worthy substitute for a Calatrava or a Patrimony? Thanks! |

Absolutely not. Now if we're talking a vintage 18k gold Piaget Polo in remarkable condition, I may be tempted ...

lol this is the most consensus we’ve had in awhile on a “this or that” type thread
And I’m on the bandwagon. No way Completely different types of watches but for the $12-$15k used dress watch price point I think there are many better choices for a dress piece than an Altiplano. To each their own though.

The Sub is conservative and The Altiplano is quirky, only you know your lifestyle and what would be a better fit.

I might. I dig the Sub but I don’t plan on buying one anytime soon. The Altiplano, on the other hand, is a dope piece of haute horology.
I guess if resale is a sticking point maybe not. |
