Crazy thought?? Or would you contemplate it?

I have an opportunity to get the 15416CE.

Ultimate AP ? Ultimate RO?

Personal preference I guess.

Not throwing 6 figures in cash at the deal…..I’d have to trade a 15407ST and 126506 with baguette dial.

I’d be crazy, correct??? Hypothetically …if the trade were made…I’d have a couple Rolex, and a PP left in the collection.

Lose….

Gain…..(pics borrowed)

Nope. No chance. Prefer the 407ST. One of the greatest reference of all time.

Ceramic is nice to look at and is a rarer piece . I would not do the trade IMO based on having two great time pieces instead of one . Also the SS Ap and the PM Daytona both with great versatility. Good luck !!

I would not. The two you have are way cooler than the one you would trade for.

Definitely not. Ceramic is only rare at AP.

Ceramic is a rare and unique piece... but the 15407ST and your Daytona are stunning pieces.... imho, I wouldn't trade!

Quality over quantity.

Both are fantastic pieces but the 15416CE has the excellence of the Double Balance, yet with the versatility of ceramic. A perfect, understated, elevated, all around beater which you can wear everywhere without worrying about scratches etc.

Separately - I find both the Platona and SS DB super blingy and easy to recognize - and if that's your vibe, then keep them. Otherwise, if it's your first black ceramic from AP, and you don't have other "understated" pieces, the 15416CE is a better choice.

Can't lose with either. Good luck!

That’s such a hard choice, but I wouldn’t do it.

Think the 15416CE is marginally cooler than the 15407st. A big point is the “feel” or weight. Make sure you like the lightness of ceramic because after coming from steel and platinum, many say it feels “cheap”.

I would pass - but I think you would be better off selling both and buying the ceramic. There is money on the table there...

Unless you are getting a smoking deal, being tied up in these heavy hitter pieces a bit difficult to exit at the price you want down the road. Takes a real specific buyer and timing to exit. That’s just my experience.

That said, love the Openwork ceramic but based on the two heavy hitter pieces in the photo, I would stick with those two and not do the trade. Great pieces in hand already.

I agree with this. It's understated for ones who aren't in the know and freaking amazing for the ones that know what it is.

I prefer your current set, but ceramic does nothing for me… feels like AP hype material ala FC circa 2010.

Not into speculation...but just another consideration.

With the discontinuation of the existing DB Skeleton line, there is probably going to be a new release of a DB in the foreseeable future. Might be pro or con for your SS version or the Ceramic version. Maybe make a decision on basis of what gets released later?

Given you have the Gen2 Platona, you must have experience already with this situation with the new Platona out in 2023 :)

Good luck!

From pure watch perspective, not considering hype, resale etc I would not trade just a st for ceramic and adding a platona to this will be out of my mind...

I think the $25k or so MSRP difference between a 15407ST and 15416CE is about what I would pay on top (maybe a bit more), but the market seems to think $100k+ is fair.

Here's an enabling photo for ya. lol. The 15416ce is an amazing watch and I really enjoy mine. Nobody does ceramic like AP does. If I could only own one AP, this is it.

Having said that, I wouldn't do this trade. I would've gladly taken the 15407st if offered to me instead of the 15416ce. You already have the openwork DB, just changing materials isn't going to bring you any more joy than the one you own.

Omg dude do it!!!!
Ultimate ap/ ro
Didn’t appreciate the ceramic til I handled one recently.
When I was down at the facility in Clearwater the head watchmaker who did our class had just gotten back from delivering this to Tom Brady and apparently even he was freaking out about it.
Such an exciting watch.

Can’t speak to values/ $ on the trade
