Tudor serviced by RSC

My watch dealer sent in my Pelagos, I found the bezel was cracked and covered under my dealer's warrant, RSC won't touch the watch without doing a full service since it has never been done. I have to pay for the service, which I am fine with. The bezel was cracked before I bought it but we both missed it. This is RSC in Toronto.

costs in Canadian dollars

bezel $530.50

complete overhaul $440.00

refinish case $100.00.

I am happy with the price, My question is it normal for the service papers to have this listed?

I know it is just for legal reasons, this is my first watch sent to RSC just wondering, I have heard of people using RSC to guarantee the watch they bought was authentic, but they offer authentication services for a cheaper cost of a service.

Some folks believe that Rolex will not service a watch with aftermarket parts so they assume that if it gets looked at or worked on, it's "authenticated".

It's a feel-good thing.

I believe we know Rolex won't service a watch and reinstall aftermarket parts. Rolex demands they get replaced.

But that is a long way from guaranteeing 100% authenticity.

this doesn't surprise me.

but i find such legal abdications of all responsibility quite unpalatable and disrespectful to their customers.

if they are an 'official' RSC and have done a full service why the hell shouldn't they guarantee authenticity, at least at that given moment.

I can definitely replicate some of the components by hand if I ever needed to, and there are certainly better machinists out there than I. Jewelers have done amazing work with laser welders to fill dents in cases, but they're still considered modified cases in Rolex's view. There can be no guarantee that every modification or aftermarket part will be caught.

Yes sure. There will be some fringe cases they miss.

But they are Rolex, they are the experts so should take some level of responsibility and accept a level of risk.

It’s not ok for them to just wash there hand of everything and dump every problem on the customers shoulders. In my opinion.

They're responsible enough to admit that there will be fringe cases and that they're not infallible.

I’m surprised at the cost of this bezel, but I guess it is what it is.

As for authentication, I’m a bit surprised by this statement as well. It was not too long that I sent a 5513 in to RSC Toronto to authenticate. The cost was $150.

It makes me wonder if I had just sent the same watch in for a service, would’ve the same statement appeared on my estimate

My Pelagos bezel replacement (bezel only) was 350 in 2022, so that has gone up significantly. Total with service was 860, and yes Rolex required the full service and also a crown replacement if they were going to do anything, which was well deserved after 10 years.

Case refinishing??!! I triple checked with the AD and spoke with RSC Dallas myself on the phone that case refinishing was not an option for Ti watches in 2022. It came back looked exactly like when it left, with a new bezel. I was really wondering if that was now an option since Rolex released two of their own titanium watches and will have to be servicing those soon. DSC and Ti YM owners will probably want a refinish at service time so it would make sense to be offered now.

It is currently back at RSC for another bezel replacement, hopefully under warranty this time though so I'm not sure I'll get a price on it.

It is the official RSC in Toronto at, 50 St Clair Ave W, Toronto, ON M4V 3B7.

also most members here I think are in the US, I am in Canada so its Canadian dollars this may explain the price difference

they still offer authentication services from what I understand at a cost $ 150 Cad as someone mentioned, so it makes little sense to me why anyone would have it serviced just to get this done unless it's a "two birds one stone" thing in their minds.

My dealer thinks they do this because people send watches in to get the free estimate done, think if Rolex is willing to work on it then it has to be real, then just get it shipped back to them with none of the work done.

The total after all is said and done is 1209.67 CAD, to have my watch fully reworked I am ok with it. I only have to cover just over half of that

So I have to pick up my watch in the next week or so. I got the call today it was back which wasn't bad about 6 weeks and I am wondering what is included with the "overhaul".

The estimate does mention movement swap but there is no price listed for it so not sure if it's been done, if so I am fine with it since I just got this piece a few months ago.

will start a new thread to show before and after, if anyone knows what is included with the "overhaul" it would be nice to know, thanks all

A dead thread back from the grave lol, so the only thing RSC didn't do was refinish the case since it really didn't need to have it done.

the watch is running great between 2.7-3.5 SPD so I am happy.

Not sure about this. Certainly that would void a warranty. But if you wanted to service a watch that had been welded to fill a dent, I don’t see an issue. I raised this scenario to Rolex service center in nyc and they said they would still service the watch.
