Is it greedy having more than one rolex?

Obviously there will be a bias coming from a Rolex forum - but the vast vast majority of people never own one Rolex, then I would presume the vast majority of Rolex owners buy their one expensive piece for life.

We get desensitized to this on the forums and watch social media with multi-piece and huge collections but taking a step back I kind of feel it is kind of crazy to have multiple five figure jewelry pieces when one or none would easily suffice.

lots of people have more money than you. Maybe at your financial stage in life it doesn’t make sense

Greedy?….No. That said, any Rolex model could easily be your one and only watch for life if you wanted to keep it simple.

I don't know about greedy.....

But as long as your financial situation allows it, I feel it's ok.

I hear that some have more than one house, more than one car, more than one child, so why not more than one Rolex. Indulgent maybe, but not greedy

People are free to do as they wish with their money.

They should be free of judgement when it comes to what they buy, when they buy it, how they buy it and how much they pay.

It's all relative too... 4-5 Rolex watches to you might be like buying 4-5 bic biro pens to someone else.

I'm at peace with myself. I support causes that I believe in. I guess that's like buying carbon offsets.

No judgement at all! More self-rationalizing

As I say it's all relative.

I have 6 Rolexes, and a total watch collection of about 12 pieces, ranging from the £5k mark to £100 mark.

If you're comfortable with it, that's all that matters, not what others think. If you're not, no one is forcing you to buy anything :)

I believe I understand your post and the underlying sentiment. I’ll say that on a certain level, I do think it’s excessive in some ways.

The older I get, the more I appreciate the less is more philosophy. Not just in watches, but in many things.

Take the above with a grain of salt as I own several “nice watches”.

As others have stated though, to each their own, and no judgement on my behalf

It's just a product like any other product. Someone makes a widget and someone else gets to decide whether it is worth the amount of labor it took to make that money.

Unnecessary doesn't not equal greedy.

Is it greedy to own a vehicle with leather seats when cloth seats will do? Many people will never own a vehicle with leather seats, or a vehicle at all, so where does it end?

Equality is when everyone gets the same thing, equity is when everyone gets the version of that thing that best suits their needs. Nobody needs a Rolex so having one or many isn’t greed, it’s simply preference.

Some folks have polo ponies and yachts. Others have simple stamp collections. Or give any “excess” funds to charity. Or spend it gambling. Personal decisions. I would say watch collecting is a lesser evil.

A few years ago, someone who was able to buy one or more Rolex watches would be considered ambitious, successful, and one to reach for lofty goals.

I now have multiple, but had I been able to get my BLNR from the beginning, i'm not sure I would have went so far down the rabbit hole and would probably only have my Seamaster and the BLNR.

While I love watches, I do agree, it does feel a bit nuts at times.

No lol. Silly question. Enjoy however many Rolex's you own in the good health if your financial situation allows for it.

I won’t agree it’s greedy, but I would say for my personal position I certainly ly do t need many watches, financially has no bearing, but I spend a lot of time away from home working and in many different countries, I very rarely take a watch with me so my home time I tend to use just one ..
I don’t think though I’d say greed, collecting anything is not greed, I have friends who collect expensive and rare bottles of whiskey, red wine is another ..

Yep, it’s all relative. Be within your means and do what makes you happy. You can’t take it with you… they Egyptians tried and all they got was robbed.

It is crazy having $15K on your wrist
It is crazy having another $30k in watches in a safe
It is crazy driving a Benz when a Honda will do the same
It is crazy spending thousands of dollars to go to the Caribbean when the local beach is 30 minutes away
It is crazy worrying about how other spend their money
It is crazy thinking we are getting out of here alive

Buy the watch if you want the watch and can afford the watch. Their are many amazing collections on this forum. Mine is small compared to many, but I love it, others would laugh at it and at the same time others would love to have it. It is a hobby and we are enthusiasts.
