LV sub vs Titanium Yachtmaster
I may have the opportunity to get the Titanium Yachtmaster. I currently have a LV sub and feel the two would be redundant for my purposes. Am I crazy for getting rid of the Sub? I just find the modern sub a bit too shiny/flashy and think the understated look of the YM is more my style.
Curious to thoughts of the forum.. |

Which LV Sub??
The name is common these days. Is it the proper 5 digit or one if the copies?

Buy the YM42 Titanium. Wear it and see what you think. As stated above revisit in a bit and decide. For me they are two different watches.

I know what you mean. I picked up the YM and am wondering why I should keep my 124060 which is even less similar than the sub date. Regardless do not pass on the YM they are few and far between for now.
I think I know your dilemma as I can’t imagine a world not having a sub in the box even though the YM is now so similar. Pics to add some meat to the discussion (my old LV I no longer have)

I can‘t help a lot on the dilemma as the Titanium YM is my only Rolex so far but I will say this: go get the YM!

I'd add it instead of swap them out.

I agree with the suggestions of getting the Ti YM and keeping the Sub for a while and then see how you feel.

Keep both for a bit of you can. If not you have my vote just to go for it and swap the Sub for the YM

LV sub vs Titanium Yachtmaster
Thanks for the advice. I will keep the Sub for now. I have set a couple of limits for myself in watch collecting. 1) I only want a certain amount tied up in watches and 2) I don’t duplicate movements.
So I’ll just move my OP, which helps me with Rule 2. For a little more background, my whole quest has been to find *one* Rolex that I can wear everyday and is understated. I tried it with the OP 41, but in the end I wanted something sportier. I thought it might be the Explorer 2, but I ultimately didn’t like the steel bezel and the white face was too much. I thought I could get to like the sub, but again it was too shiny and flashy. My next stop was going to be to try the gray/black GMT. But ultimately the PCLs and the shiny finishes will be too much. I’m thinking this may actually be the one for me, in which case I may sell a lot of watches, lol |

The Titanium Yachtmaster does have a more understated look compared to the LV sub. If you prefer a more subtle style, the Yachtmaster might be a great choice for you. It's all about finding what suits your taste best!

If you're already talking about how the Sub is "too shiny" it's probably time to move it on. No shame in that at all - many people would agree with you.
I think the Ti YM is extremely cool and under-the-radar with the matte bezel and dial. Only thing is just how big the hour markers are. Seriously roided up!

You’d be crazy. The Submariner is a classic. I’m not sure what the Yacht-Master is.
