Gratuity Gift for Rolex Sales Associate?

I did a search and was unsuccessful in finding an answer to my query. A Sales Associate is delivering a specific Rolex I have been wanting for at least a year (I'll post it up when picked up). What, if any, is a good gratuity for a SA that gets you what you want?

A thank you is all is necessary. If their customer service is exemplary, a letter to the manager is also a meaningful gesture

This is a great answer. Something to share with the crew is always appreciated.

Despite what others will tell you, a bit of appreciation--not kissing ass--is proper in my opinion and goes a long way in this world.

Give what you want, it's your money and your choice, a card, a cuddle, a great big smile, who cares .. it's your SA/AD so you treat them how you see fit ... 50% will say nothing 50% a treat .. do as you see fit and most of all enjoy your new watch ...

In the past, I've bought a bottle of whisky for my SA after he secured me a VTNR three months after launch. I have also taken in a huge box of chocolates for everyone in the AD at Christmas. Bribery? Perhaps. They take the time to remember who I am each time they see me, and treat me very well indeed, so it makes sense for me to be courteous in return.
Here in the UK, it's common and old-fashioned to give our milkmen and trash collectors gifts at Christmas, so I don't really see why I wouldn't do it here.

However, I didn't do it recently for my Daytona. Instead, I decided to reach out to the brand's head office and write them an email commending the SA and his manager. A few days later, I got a message from my SA thanking me because it had eventually reached him after working its way through the company. I suspect that meant more than just a bottle of something, and if I think about it, it's just common courtesy.

In full agreement, an email with some nice words in it does go a long way, but still there's always a little niggle and let me explain, I paid a deposit for my 126519 - I was amazed to even be considered for it, I too have the VTNR, I waited about 5 months after asking for it, but got the email to say price increase, now I didn't moan but made sure I had paid up before the rise kicked in, I wont say bittersweet because I feel my AD has been amazing, I said from the start I will not buy jewelry or any watch I don't want and have been treated like a King .. but deep down business is business, they are in it to make a profit and reach their targets ..

I’ve done a box of chocolates before when an AD really helped me out - the watch arrived at I time I was unable to collect for several weeks and they held onto it for me.

I would gift something. It usually means getting some good swag in return.

Remember the SA/AD get a lot of crap from nasty customers. Makes you stand out. At the end of the day would you rather help a person that’s nice to you or treats you like crap… Spend etc all being equal.

This is the stance I take.

I've been in the store when there has been people coming in being abusive because they demand to buy a GMT Master in the window right now - if I can bring a bit of balance with something to make the guys day then I'll happily do it.

As in any sale, thank you is sufficient. If you want to further impress them, wear the watch often when you go in the store and express how much you are enjoying it. That is really the only thanks any SA should want.

Should be the other way round the AD SA was only doing what he is paid for selling watches to the public who enters his retail shop.

In the almost 20 years I worked at an AD as the Rolex sales specialist, I never received anything as a thank you or a gratuity from a customer.

I'm not complaining, just stating a fact.
