Considering new purchase - maybe sub 14060
I am considering my next watch purchase. For context, my current “collection” includes a recently purchased brand new GMT II CHNR (“root beer”) and a Panerai Luminor Due (PAM 936, titanium with leather strap). I have offloaded a Panerai to my son and my old 1988 SS Date to my wife.
Here I are three that have my attention: 1. Rolex No Date Sub (14060) 2. Tudor Pelagos 39 3. Omega Seamaster 300M (007 “No Time To Die”, NATO band) I want an all purpose watch that I can wear hiking, kayaking, and then out to dinner, something to wear while traveling, work or leisure, city or mountains. I am looking for the wisdom of the more experienced watch hobbyists. Are any of these obvious mistakes? Is there one that stands out above the rest (he asks on the Rolex forum…). Anything else I should consider? |

14060 and don’t look back. Later you can pick up an OG ETA Pelagos. No Time To Die… meh.

The 14060 would get my vote out of your three options but I’d also consider a vintage Tudor sub instead of the Pelagos. Maybe something like the 9411/0 or later 79090 are great watches

I prefer the normal omega diver 300m to the special edition. I would pick this over the sub everyday if you don’t might the increased weight. The dial, mechanism and case finishing is all superior. If you are interested in resale value, then the sub will hold up better.
I personally find the pelagos a bit boring, but if you want a watch to get out of your way, in terms of weight and design, it is a perfect choice. I would add one. If you want a super watch which is subtle from a distance but gorgeous close up, you should consider the new Black Bay 41 monochrome. I prefer it to the sub, it’s half the price and has a wonderful mechanism, build and the 5 link bracelet is super. It is giving me pause as I am on the waiting list for a sub and a deep sea, and I will probably cancel the sub. This is all IMHO |

One more for the 14060. It's one of the best Subs ever made.

I would LOVE to be able to put those three watches in the same list as anything near being alternatives to one another. I can only see the Sub.
However, you see them as alternatives, which is what matters. They're all "good" watches, so as you see them as alternatives, go with the cheapest. On (the magical, fantasy prices of) Chrono24, you can get: 1) 14060 = $8000 2) Pelagos = $3500 3) Seamaster = $6500 Pelagos is the clear winner. |

If you can get by the Rolex Submariner icon the clear winner is the Pelagos. Factoring in cost, wear and ruggedness the Pelagos is a lot of watch for the money. I do not like vintage watches as you have to deal with service, robustness and a general paying attention that modern watches typically do not have. The bracelet and clasp of the Pelagos if a pleasure as opposed to the Rolex which you will need a tool to adjust and just hope you are not in between on the titanium bracelet on the NTTD.

As a guy who has been wearing a two line 14060M Sub bought new daily since October 2005 in all kinds of environments, you can figure where I stand. It sees all kinds of travel, occasions, activity, and neglect (although serviced about every 9 years) and has not let me down. I would never part with my Sub unless necessary to sell to feed the family.

14060 all the way.
I have gone through many watches. Get bored after a few years then sell. I have the 14060 and it will be with me forever. Simply perfection. |

Had all the ones mentioned. Still have my 14060m random serial 2011.
It is so good on the wrist and hard to explain it unless worn for a a day. Go with it, you will not be disappointed. |

The Tudor Pelagos 39mm in titanium is a near perfect watch. My FIL just got one and I wish it wasn't redundant in my collection. I agree with you completely. I cannot say enough nice things about it. |

14060, no question, it´s just about as good as it gets in this world. Omega "NTD"? Please no! The Tudor is an excellent watch, but if you can find a 14060 in good condition with a documented service history, that would always be my first choice!

The 14060M for the win. It's a fantastic wearing piece.
