1943 Hamilton Railway Special

I attended a family reunion this past weekend and was given my great-grandfather's pocket watch. It's in very good condition in and out, but I will probably have it serviced soon (clean and oil the movement). Checking the accuracy over the next week or so.

Beautiful - Treasure and enjoy it!

If those photos inspire anyone to look for one, vintage American railroad grade pocket watches are the best buys in horology (Quality to Price Ratio) IMHO.

992b, I think you will find it exceeds Chronometer specs.

The hair spring was good enough that George Daniels used it in his watches. I was told he was an admirer of (the old) Hamilton.

What a beautiful way to remember him.

What’s the backstory with the watch? Does anyone in your family know?
