Joined the 124060 club

I have finally acquired my first Rolex! I went grey and traded in my GS Diver (limited edition).

As beautiful as the GS was, after 5 years I feel it is large and heavy. I took quite a hair wash on the trade, but it was well used and the cost of a service was unappealing (plus, they would send it back to Japan for 6 months).

Onto the 124060, I wanted an easy to go watch, like my Speedie, thus the ND sub was my choice.

I debated about getting a GMT, but the places I travel to for work will attract attention, plus I have my JLC and G-Shock for that.

I looked through a few shops in Singapore and settled on a brand new piece. It feels nicer - smaller, thinner and lighter than the GS, and fits better under my shirt cuffs.

Looking forward to many years with this piece.

Smart move to exit from GS Diver and get in Rolex as the GS values are dropping more and servicing is a big headache..etc.

Rolex is easy as can be to service...and fast too.

Congrats on joining the 124060 club! It's a fantastic choice, especially for an everyday watch. The Submariner's versatility and timeless design are hard to beat. Sounds like it was a well-thought-out decision, especially considering your travel needs and the fit under shirt cuffs. Enjoy the new piece and the many adventures ahead with it!

Dear All,

Thanks for the kind welcoming and sentiments!

The GS servicing was a real nail in the coffin, plus plummeting value of limited edition piece.

First day on the wrist and I have been enjoying the sub’s presence on my wrist…I fear I might go as far as selling off my APs in the future…

Congratulations. I have the same watch and it gets the most wrist time of any of my Rolex watches right now.

Love the true Submariner. Enjoy it! It's a timeless icon.

Interesting to read the sentiment changing around GS - I have to admit I'd never been attracted to the brand as it doesn't represent what Rolex does to me, and I find their watches too run-of-the-mill lookswise. I know the finishing is wonderful etc, but I don't really see it myself. I find their prices absurd.
