AD offered DJ36 126283RBR

My wife and I are on vacation, and naturally, I can’t NOT walk into an AD to see what’s being “Exhibited” not for sale.

Of course, the stuff I’d really like for my wish list are nowhere to be found, but my wife looks in the case for the smaller DJs and sees this in the case.

The DJ36 126283RBR.

I went looking through the classifieds here and don’t see anything like this, and the two “TD” offerings are a few years old, all two of them that I found on Chrono24! One of which says it can be polished to make it look new again.

I don’t have a history with this AD, I travel here frequently, so it could be could a nice way to establish one…

Should I buy it? Or should I hold up and give my business to my home AD who doesn’t have it, and I should ask them to obtain for me. Or, “go Grey”?

Tell them you want to buy it, but you really want to buy a watch for yourself at the same time - and give them some you’d be open to. Ask if there’s any way they could make that happen.

If you travel there often this will get you in with a new AD. That watch looks amazing on your wife as well!

This is a relationship builder/ice breaker watch.

Buy it only if you intend to continue perusing this AD.

Yup, that’s why I asked. Seems like it a pretty hard piece to find. And damn it’s a pretty sharp looking watch! She wears a DJ 31 two tone, plain Jane as her everyday watch. This is a super bling upgrade for sure!

They have that on display, not available. But honestly, my wife pulled this from the display and not the Champaign. She liked the contrast more…

Her choice, not mine…

Both my wife and I enjoy the watch hobby - don’t think you can go wrong - that is a beautiful watch.

Per my response above - 36DJ MOP Diamond Dial. The black dial is stunning with the Diamond Bezel.

OP was talking about a watch for his wife, not leveraging one for himself.

Yup. I’m more and more convinced too. I’ve asked for something hard to get for me too, and if they can make us a double offer, I’m in!

Let’s see what they say. I’ll take a DJ41 jubilee blue or green, or a Sky-Dweller blue or Green, or a GMT Pepsi, or heck even an impossible to find Daytona! If they can join up one of these with the 126283RBR, I’m all in! Expensive trip, but damn, I’ll push my chips to the center of the table.

To the OP -
Is this watch BNIB with papers or a pre-owned piece?
If the latter, some discount off current MSRP is usual and customary…..

Nowadays I get more joy buying the wife watches and purses than I do buying watches and other toys. Great relationship builder and happy wife. I say go for it if she likes it!

My thoughts exactly. I would feel pretty rough telling her no if she really likes it.

That is the correct answer. If my husband told me I couldn’t have my Wimbledon bimetal, unless they bundled it with s Sub for him …………..Let’s just say that wouldn’t have ended well. 🥹Purely hypothetical, as he would never do that, and he loves his Seiko diver.

Yup - this is the way to go, assuming your wife actually wants that piece. Looks great on her!

Agree completely. My wife said she loves the watch, but would rather have a LOVE bracelet…

So of course, I had to google that and welp, we’re going to leave this beautiful watch with the AD to find a more deserving home. Since we’re on vacation, I plan to check back with the AD at the end of the week, and they said they’re happy to call me if something for me shows up this week, but I’m not holding out hope.

I just couldn’t drop that many dimes on something my wife wasn’t 100% in “LOVE” with, yes pun intended. Apparently we have to now go to a Cartier store so she can educate me about LOVE.

In a way, I’m curious to see if that watch remains available while we’re here…
